Quick steps to restart your box
Starting up
The time it takes for your TV box to power up or come out of standby depends on your standby mode settings. If you choose to, you can change the standby mode which will help the TV box to start up quicker.
To change the standby mode, follow the steps below:
- Depending on which remote you have, press the Menu or Youview button
- Press the up arrow to select Settings
- Select Power & Standby
- Using the up and down arrows on your remote, select your option:
SMART (recommended) - Fast start-up and improved responsiveness. You can set the standby times that suit you. This will put the TV box into deep sleep during these times, saving energy overnight.
Energy Saver - The most energy efficient mode, but it will take a lot longer for your TV box to start up.
Always Ready - Less energy efficient, but your TV box will load up a little faster.
Note: the standby modes available will depend on your software version.
Automatic standby
To save energy, your TV Box will automatically go into standby mode when not in use. This means if you fall asleep in front of the TV, forget to turn the box off or leave the room, it will take care of itself for you. Before your TV box goes into standby mode, it will count down to give you time to press OK on your TalkTalk remote and keep it active.
- Depending on which remote you have, press the Menu or Youview button
- Press the up arrow to select Settings
- Select Power & Standby
- Select Automatic Standby and choose from 2, 3, 4 or 12 hours
- Press Done to confirm your settings

Often restarting your TV box can help reboot your system and may remove previous bugs. If you want to restart your TV Box and broadband router, follow the steps below.

- Wait ten seconds and plug the TalkTalk TV Box back into the power socket

- Once ready, press the standby button on the front of your TalkTalk TV Box

TV box won't turn on
If your TalkTalk TV box won’t turn on, the first thing to do, as obvious as it sounds, is to check the power cables are all connected correctly and that there’s power going to the box. You should also check the power supply by plugging something else into it, like a lamp, to make sure there’s no fault there.
If you’ve checked all of this and tried rebooting the box using the button at the back and it still won’t turn on, you can chat to us below and we’ll arrange for a replacement box to be sent to you.
TV box stuck in waking up
