With the help of Amazon Alexa and the Alexa Skill, you can easily use your voice with your TV box.
Once you've enabled the skill and paired your Alexa device (for example an Amazon Echo or other device with Alexa built-in) you can use Alexa from any area in your TalkTalk TV box.
It's really easy to setup. The on-screen instructions on the Alexa App, along with the TalkTalk TV menu, will simply guide you through each step.
If this is the first time you've set up an Alexa Skill, you may want to follow the guide below to get you going.
First things first, you need to find your pairing code on your TalkTalk TV 4K box:
Press the Alexa setup (speech bubble) button on your remote.
or,
Once the code has been accepted, your box will automatically update to show the device has been paired.
Once you've paired your TalkTalk TV 4K box with Alexa, you'll need to specify which Amazon Alexa devices you'd like to use. Follow the instructions on your mobile to complete this setup.
You're now set up to use Alexa with your TalkTalk TV 4K box.

You're now set up to use Alexa with your TalkTalk TV.
Once you've enabled the Alexa Skill and linked it to your TalkTalk TV Box, you can use Alexa to control different features on your TV.
Once you've enabled the skill and linked it to your TalkTalk TV 4K box, you can use it to control your device by asking to play on-demand content, to watch TV programmes or to show the programme guide, and more.
When using voice control, Alexa must determine if the command is meant for your TalkTalk TV 4K Box or the Alexa device. For example, when you say “Alexa, volume up”, in general Alexa will increase the volume on the Alexa device itself. But if you say “Alexa, go to BBC one” and then “Alexa volume up”, Alexa will send the command to increase the volume on your TalkTalk TV 4K Box. Similarly, there are some commands for which you'll need to explicitly ask Alexa “... on TalkTalk TV”. For example, if you ask “Alexa open BBC Sounds”, Alexa will simply launch the Alexa skill called “BBC sounds” on the Alexa device. But if you ask “Alexa open BBC Sounds on TalkTalk TV”, Alexa will send instructions to launch the BBC Sounds application on your TalkTalk TV 4K Box.

The 'speech bubble' button on your remote is for setting up Alexa on your TalkTalk TV 4K box only and cannot be used for voice control. Users should use an Alexa device for all voice control features.
Once you've paired your Alexa device you can ask Alexa to search for your favourite shows.
Example of how to search:
"Alexa, search for Coronation Street"
or
"Alexa, search for Top Gear"
Following this command, the search main menu section will come up on your TV with results related to this show. Then use your TV remote as usual to select a tile.
Pairing code has expired
The pairing code can expire if it's been open on your TalkTalk TV box for more than 3 minutes. A new one should automatically generate, so try the refreshed code instead
TV Box or mobile device are not connected to the internet
In order to pair your TalkTalk TV box to your Alexa device, both devices need an internet connection. If you lose internet connection while in the Voice Control or Mobile devices settings, the page will automatically refresh and advise you to reconnect to the internet.
Disable the Alexa Skill in the Alexa App or online in the Amazon Alexa store. This will automatically unpair your TalkTalk TV box.
Unfortunately Alexa voice search is not be available to customers with an older recordable box. If you don't have the Voice Control option in your TalkTalk TV Settings menu, please contact us to talk about upgrading your box.
