Hi,

I used to have an old @screaming.net email address but I no longer know the password. How may I reset it?

13:45 on 27 March 2023 just rechecked the MyAccount login.  MyAccount is now working so a password recovery check should also now work, even if it still confirms 'no domain' for the master screaming.net address that would indicate, alongside the other checks if 'Undeliverable', that the mailbox is in fact deleted from the TalkTalk Mail platform.

Heads up that there's a MyAccount outage 12:30 27 March 2023, assumed emergency unscheduled maintenance, so password recovery options won't deliver any results at present.

It's not necessarily deleted. If you entered an alias address then it would come up with the no domain error so you need to enter a master screaming.net email address for password recovery.

But also check by sending the email address a mail message to see if that bounces as 'Undeliverable'. Also try the external website Verifalia to see if either the master screaming.net email address or alias address come back as 'Undeliverable'.

If both checks come back as 'Undeliverable' and the master address entered for password recovery comes back as 'The email address entered does not have a TalkTalk domain' and you know the address entered is correct then that does suggest the mailbox has been deleted by the system because of non-use.

Non-use for more than 180 days gets the master mailbox flagged for deletion by the system. But the system doesn't remove a listing in your customer MyAccount. Furthermore, you'll not be able to delete that listing yourself if the mailbox has been removed from the TalkTalk Mail platform.  The delete process needs to find an active master mailbox so the delete process can continue to completion.

Let us know what you find.

Hi,

I get a "The email address entered does not have a TalkTalk domain. Please try again." so i guess it's no longer an active mailbox despite being listed as "associated" with my account.

No problems, thanks anyway.

The Reset password now button in the help article  Changing your email password will take you to password reset and recovery.

If the email address is still active on the TalkTalk Mail platform and you have set up password recovery options, in advance, that you recognise from the *****hints, then you can send your alternate email address a link or your mobile a 6-digit code to authorise a password reset.

If you see the 'no domain' message then the mailbox may be deleted.

If you see no alternative options for password recovery and you've not set up password recovery then you'll need TalkTalk Support to verify you as the registered user before setting up new password recovery reset details.
