I have been unable to receive or send e mails from my account using ticali.co.uk since 24/2/22.

 

The address is xxxxxxx.ukgateway.net

 

The message I get is that the account needs attention and that 'We couldn't access the account :ukgateway. You might need to update your password or give the account permission to sync to this device'.  I've tried reentering the password and readding the account.  I'm using Windows 10 mail.

 

Please any help - I'm frazzled

Hi robroy55, I've added your mailbox to those to be restored to normal function. Please allow 48 hours for the change to complete.

Please log in to My Account if you need to view or pay your bill, manage boosts and track your usage. From My Account you can also check your connection and test your line for any issues in the Service Centre.

Your UKgateway email account via webmail is accessible via the Sign in button below: (but remember to sign out of your TalkTalk webmail account via the sign out icon top right before trying to sign in to the UKgateway webmail account and then sign out of that to get back to the TalkTalk email

 

Select here: Sign in to TalkTalk Mail

Enter your full TalkTalk Mail UKgateway email address and UKgateway password, select Sign in.

 

If the UKgateway email address is listed in your customer MyAccount that's all that's needed.

 

You'll not be able to add the UKgateway email account to your TalkTalk email account until device access is restored. That's because it uses IMAP access just like Windows Mail.

Sorry I must be the dumbest user on the planet - how do I access webmail to see my ukgateway.net tiscali account.

 

I've tried adding the account to my talktalk mail account but it wont do it automatically - and I am lost with trying to do it manually.

 

I've been in 'my account' and the ukgateway.net account is listed.  

 

I'm definitely missing something - perhaps a brain

No mail will have been lost during the 'switch off' of device access. In fact you have had access via webmail throughout.

 

The Windows Mail secure mail settings are good so I've requested that full access is restored for the email address mailbox in your Community profile Private notes.

TalkTalk Support will respond here and access returned within a couple of days after that. Until then use TalkTalk Mail webmail via an up to date Internet browser to keep in touch with email contacts.

Hello

Thanks for the message.  I was confused by the message from Talk talk - I thought it applied only to my talk talk mail account.  I did not realise Tiscali was talk talk as well.  I have changed the settings for my inbound and outbound mail settings for the ukgateway.net via Tiscali mail as per your e mail for Windows 10 mail. 

Do I just relax and wait now?  Will I have lost incoming mail since my lock out?

If you saw the message from TalkTalk advising "Our records show that you are still accessing your email using unencrypted email settings, because of this you will no longer be able to receive or send emails via this email app or software" then the email address receiving that notification has been limited to webmail only access as a last resort action by TalkTalk to stop the use of insecure email.

 

TalkTalk Mail webmail is secure by design using an up to date Internet browser.

 

Select here: Sign in to TalkTalk Mail

 

Enter your full TalkTalk Mail email address and password, select Sign in.

 

You will be able to get email access restored to email apps or software including mail collection services so long as you're ready to use up to date and secure email settings for all the ways you view emails. We can advise on device and software compatibility and provide customer setup guides. Just let us know each mail collection service, each device, its operating system and email software including version that are in current use.

 

For Windows 10 Mail the Sync Options should look like this for the ukgateway email account:

For a definitive check of settings take screenshots of the incoming and outgoing server settings, image edit to obscure the first part of the email address and upload here using the Camera icon (desktop browser) or Picture icon (mobile browser) above this reply area.

 

When you confirm the secure settings are ready I can request TalkTalk Support to restore full access. TalkTalk Support will respond here and access will be restored usually within a couple of working days.

 

Prepare for TalkTalk Support - include in the Community Profile (not in these public posts):

Email account holder name

Scroll down to Private notes to add the email address(es)
and TalkTalk or MailPlus customer account number

Check and Save changes
