I am 95 years old & live alone & have a careline attached to my home phone.
For last few days every time I pick up home phone to make a call there is no outgoing line just buzzing or screeching. I have a mobile but the signal is poor in th house so do not use it.
If someone tries to call my from another landline they cannot connect with me, however if they call me from a mobile phone they can get through but only my youngest daughter does this and she is on holiday at the moment but rings me once a day whilst she is away.
She has let my oldest daughter know what is happening & asked her to do this post on my behalf.
I am now continuing this mesage as I am the eldest daughter & at home with access to wifi & computer.
I have run a line check on Mums phone & it says you have detected a problem & need to check it & says to confirm that I have a careline pack & live alon & am vulnerable. I then press the Chat now button but nothing happens.
I have tried to ring Mum from my talktalk landline & cannot get through so there is a problem at her end.
I recall some years ago that we ourselves had this problem & eventually got an engineer out to sort it sho told us that there was a crack in the line & ringing from another landline won't get through but if you ring the affected line from a mobile the signal reattachs the crack in the line for a short while but it will keep cracking & yet again become unusuable.
Can someone look into this for Mum as a matter of great urgency?
