Under the new General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR), a new set of rules on how we use your personal data, we’re required to ensure that anyone whose data we store & process is of a minimum age which is set at 18 years old. We don’t require a lot of personal information to use the community but even something as simple as your email address which is required is covered by the new rules.
Actually we don’t, Our community has been active for over 10 years and in this time we’ve never captured your date of birth however in November last year we did add the following question to the registration form:
“Are you 18 years of age or older?”
Any members who’ve joined after this time have nothing to worry about as we’ve already confirmed your age. Members who joined before this time will need to confirm they are 18 years of age or older.
Right now you don’t need to do anything, however we’ll soon be making some changes to the community which will only be visible to members whose age is unknown.
When you first log into the community, you’ll be asked a quick question, “Are you 18 years of age or older?” With a simple Yes or No answer. Once you’ve confirmed your 18 or above you’ll be able to use the community as you did before. Members of the community who are under the age of 18 will no longer be able to participate in the community and upon clicking NO will be logged out of the community.
If anyone is having any difficulty with the above process, please do not hesitate to contact one of the Online Community Executives (OCE’s) or myself.
Remember it's easy to set your preferences in My Account to tell us what you want to read about. Not registered? Don't worry - you just need your account number and TalkTalk phone number. If you've forgotten your details, we'll help with that too, just chat with a member of the team.
