The UK has seen disruption recently as a result of Storms Isha and Jocelyn that brought significant disruption and dangerous conditions to life.

The worst affected areas saw heavy rainfall and winds gusting over 80mph which has caused widespread damage, power outages and major disruption to the UK's broadband network in a number of ways. Strong winds can cause telegraph poles to snap or blow over and flooding can damage the electrical equipment in green cabinets and telephone exchanges. The severe weather also causes mobility challenges for engineers working to restore service.

For more information on which areas are expected to be impacted check out the UK weather warnings on Met Office Website.

Affected areas

  • West Scotland

If your services have been affected as a result of the weather, please rest assured that we're working with Openreach to investigate all faults as quickly as possible. Openreach engineers are currently extremely busy with the increased number of faults across their network and are working hard in challenging conditions to reconnect homes that are without service. As always during these situations, safety is their top concern and they are prioritising damage to poles and wires in order to protect the public.
