With our current WiFi Router (Supplied by Shell Broadband a few years ago) we are able to switch off WiFi when not required and continue using the wired connections.
When I upgrade our Broadband package with TalkTalk we will get a new router "WiFi Hub BlacK".
Does the "WiFi Hub BlacK" have the facility to switch off the WiFi and we can continue to use the wired connections? Either by a button or in the Hub configuration.

The WiFi Hub Black was the old Huawei DG8041W, the current router is the new Wi-Fi Hub 3, which does have a toggle switch to turn the Wi-Fi on or off.

Some models may have a physical button on the router to turn off the WiFi, but this can vary. If your model has this feature, it will typically be labeled with a WiFi symbol.

Great, thank-you.
I assume from your answer there isn't a hardware button I can press (as I can on my old router) to switch off (disable) WiFi?

Yes, you can use the TalkTalk WiFi Hub Black with the WiFi switched off while still utilizing wired connections. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Access the Router Settings: Connect your computer to the router using an Ethernet cable. Open a web browser and enter the router's IP address (usually 192.168.1.1) in the address bar.
2. Log In: Enter your router's admin username and password. If you haven't changed these, the default credentials can often be found on a sticker on the router or in the user manual.
3. Navigate to WiFi Settings: Look for the WiFi settings section in the menu.
4. Disable WiFi: Once logged in, navigate to the WiFi settings section. There should be an option to disable the WiFi network. Turn off both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.
5. Save Changes: Make sure to save your changes before exiting the settings.
After completing these steps, your router will be powered on and functioning with wired connections, while the WiFi will be turned off.

Hi, to ask the question another way.
Can I have the router powered on and using wired connections, BUT with the WiFi switched off?

@sabelo-TT, the customer is NOT wanting to switch off the router.
They want to know whether it can be set to ethernet only, and no WiFi signal.

Not at all as all connection will come from your local exchange to your router. So, if the router is switched off, then you all connection will be switched off.
The answer to the question will be no @CDLaaa

Yes, I realise that I would need to keep the router powered on.
The question is can I have WiFi switched off and wired connections still working?

Hi there @CDLaaa, so, in this matter, if you decide to upgrade your plan with TalkTalk, your new plan will automatically come with our Wi-Fi Hub Black router. With the Wi-Fi Hub Black, you'll experience improved connection performance. However, it's important to note that this enhanced performance is only available if the router remains powered on, regardless of whether you're using a wireless or wired connection.
