Assuming that your new router is a Sagemcom, then WiFi Optimisation cannot be disabled. I have carried out many totally independent investigations into this and normally, the problem is caused by something else. WiFi Optimisation has greatly improved anyway, since it was permitted to use the DFS channel ranges that form part of the 5GHz spectrum.   Wi-Fi interference (nothing to do with electrical interference) can cause:- Slow speed, intermittent dropouts, breaks in the signal, no signal at all, or no internet access. This can affect one or more devices. This can also lead to a permanent reduction in the speed of one or more devices. No ISP can be responsible for your local environment; this is mainly a byproduct of the popularity of Wi-Fi. Generally speaking, the 2.4GHz band suffers far more from Wi-Fi interference than the much faster 5GHz band. However, the 2.4GHz band has a longer range than the 5GHz band and can penetrate walls better. This may very well change depending on your local area. In other words, I offer a free, impartial analysis of your Wi-Fi network and will try to help you optimise your Wi-Fi connection. The next stage involves my sending out a guide to help you get important diagnostic information for me. I will then analyse these results for you and recommend changes to your router configuration, if required. Hi @wJanet1    Within the 2.4GHz band, you should only ever use channels 1, 6 or 11 as they are classed as the only non-overlapping channels. The 5GHz band is different & has more channels available. Please can you PM me (to preserve your privacy) the screenshots from your WiFi analyser? Not knowing which one you are using, I need to see:- The AP view 2.4GHz channels 5GHz channels Signal strength/time graph, where it has run for 5 minutes before taking the screenshots. Please can you try & use a PC to upload these screenshots, otherwise they will be over-compressed & too small to read. How the feed from the pole is routed is between the installer & yourself. You will need power for the ONT (a small box that is the termination of the fibre, inside your property). Then another socket is required for the router. If you are having digital voice to replace your landline, then any phones (such as a cordless phone system) that requires power will still need this.   However, the ONT & router do not need to be next to one & other, just extend this via a longer Cat 6 minimum Ethernet cable. Hi @nickcarter48    Looking at the netsh commands that you PMd me, there are a couple of issues. First the command:-   netsh waln show drivers   The output is truncated in your screenshot, with only the last part of the display visible. Please can you redo this using the vertical scroll bar & if needs be, taking multiple screenshots.   The second problem is that when it does work, the connection is only using the 2.4GHz band. This can be down to several factors, such as:-   The signal strength from where the router is, compared to the laptop.  Is the router in a cupboard or out in the open, plus how high it is off the floor? The location of either in respect of what electronic equipment, walls, large metal objects, water tanks & even plant pots nearby. The levels of WiFi interference that is present (I can provide a lot of help to check this).   Obviously out of date drivers can cause all sorts of issues. Are yours up to date? One common problem with Wi-Fi network adapters stopping working in Windows 11 is power management. This needs to be disabled on your Wi-Fi adapter. To do this:-   Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager Expand the Network adapters section. Right-click on the Realtek RTL8822CE 802.11ac PCIe Adapter and select Properties. Go to the Power Management tab. Uncheck the box that says "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". Click OK and restart your PC. ... View more

Hi @nickcarter48    Another possibility is that some laptops have a physical switch on them somewhere to disable the Wi-Fi adapter. If yours has such a switch, perhaps you have accidentally moved it to the off position? The Wi-Fi card could also have been disabled, but you would need to go into Device Manager to check that.
