TV Parental Controls

No ratings

Your Parental Control Preferences allow you to restrict access and hide certain channels and content on your TV. This will help you to protect the young ones from the material you’d rather they not see without PIN Access.

What will my Parental Controls restrict?

When active, your Parental Controls will lock certain types of content, allowing it to only to be accessed after entering your four-digit PIN.

Once set, it’ll be applied to all live TV, On Demand content and any programmes that have been recorded after the 9:00 pm watershed.  Depending on which option you choose, this can include all programmes or films that are rated either:

PG and over

12 and over

15 and over

To hide the adult category from your Guide and On Demand menu:

  1. Press the Menu / youview button on your remote control
  2. Select Settings
  3. Select Parental Controls Restrict Rated Programmes
  4. You'll now be asked to enter your PIN
  5. Select Adult Channels & Categories
  6. Use the up and down arrows on your remote to select hide/show
  7. Select Done to confirm your changes

To restrict access to rated programmes:

  1. Select Restrict Rated Programmes
  2. Press OK to turn this setting ON
  3. Select your required settings and select Done to confirm

Select whether you’d like to see Guidance/Watershed labels in your guide by selecting OK to switch on/off.

The Sky Cinema are currently the only channels on TalkTalk TV that do not follow the watershed and can play rated movies at any time. This means we're required to protect 12 rated content with your PIN before Sky's 8pm watershed, even when Parental Controls are turned off. If you're watching the channels after the watershed you shouldn’t be asked to enter your PIN when selecting a film.

You can manage parental controls to keep the little ones safe from unsuitable content.

Your pin is set as default to 1 2 3 4

If you had an engineer install they'll have changed it to match your Payment PIN. For speedy installs, you can change it yourself.

To change your Parental Controls PIN follow these steps:

  1. Press the Menu / youview button on your remote
  2. Select Settings and then Change Parental Control PIN
  3. Enter PIN > Enter new PIN
  4. Select Done to confirm.

On the first PIN change, you'll be asked to set a security question.

If you've lost your PIN and forgotten the answer to your security question you'll need to reset your TV box back to factory settings.
