TalkTalk TV Planner App

The TalkTalk TV Planner app was phased out on 31st March 2020. Customers using a TalkTalk TV Plus Box can use the BT TV app to set recordings remotely for TV antenna channels. You can find out more information about this change from YouView.    

The BT TV app for Android and iOS devices allows customers with a TalkTalk TV Plus Box to view the Guide and schedule recordings remotely using a mobile device. Key features include:

Before you can connect the app to your TalkTalk TV Plus Box, you need to first connect your device to your wireless network (or the same router your TalkTalk TV Plus Box is connected to, if you have more than one). Once connected, you can use the app over any Wi-Fi or mobile data network.

The steps below will guide you to the mobile devices area on your TalkTalk TV Box.

  1. Download the BT TV mobile app from the App Store or Google Play
  2. Make sure your device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the TalkTalk TV Box
  3. Press the Menu / youview button on the TalkTalk remote control
  4. Press the up arrow to select Settings
  5. Select Mobile Devices
  6. Open the settings menu in the app and follow the instructions to connect to your TV box 
  7. Select the device you want to connect on your TV by pressing OK to tick/untick the box and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the setup

To schedule a recording remotely using the BT TV app, follow the steps below:

  1. Open the 'Full TV Listings' menu in the 'Live' area of the app
  2. Tap the film or show you would like to record to open up the programme information window
  3. Press the Record episode or Record series button 
  4. You'll see a notification confirming your recording has been sent to your TalkTalk TV Box

It's recommended you allow at least 15 minutes minimum to set up recordings remotely. 


To remove a previously registered device from a TalkTalk TV box:

  1. Press the Menu / youview button on your remote
  2. Press the up arrow to select Settings
  3. Select Mobile Devices
  4. Select the device you want to disconnect by highlighting the name and press OK to place a tick next to the device name
  5. Select Disconnect
  6.  A message will now be displayed saying You have successfully disconnected your device. Select Done to confirm.

Your device is no longer connected to your TalkTalk TV Plus Box.


If you're experiencing problems installing apps on your Android devices, the following steps may resolve the issue.

  1. Select Settings
  2. Select Manage Applications
  3. Select Google Play Store
  4. Clear cache and data
  5. Open Google Play Store
  6. Install the BT TV app
