Your Fibre 150/250 installation

To get you ready for the speeds offered by Fibre 150 and Fibre 250, we'll send an expert engineer to install your services and optimise your in-home setup. Choose an option below for more information about your installation.

When you order Fibre 150 or 250, we’ll agree an installation date with you and give you a 2 hour arrival timeslot between 7am and 5pm for your appointment. If your plans change, you can change your appointment date up to 2 working days prior to the agreed date.

 

The technology we use for Fibre 150 and Fibre 250 is different to normal Fibre, so you'll need a Wi-Fi Hub and an extra piece of equipment called an Openreach modem.

If our records show that you don’t have a TalkTalk Wi-Fi Hub, we'll send one out in the post a few days before your installation day. As the engineer is coming to set up your Faster Fibre, you won’t need any microfilters so we’ve taken these out of your Wi-Fi Hub box. The installation engineer will provide your Openreach modem.

If our records show that you should already have a TalkTalk Wi-Fi Hub, which is compatible with your new broadband service, then we’ll just send you an extra cable in the post a few days before your engineer appointment. Please ensure you give this cable to the installation engineer when they arrive. The installation engineer will provide your Openreach modem.

 

On your installation day, your engineer will carry out any necessary work at the street cabinet and complete an assessment of your in-home setup including:

The engineer will then discuss what changes are needed, if any, to your in-home setup and how long it will take to complete the work. Once you're happy, they'll begin the installation.

 

Due to the outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19) Faster 150 Fibre installations are currently limited to changing your main phone socket (if required), installing your Openreach modem and providing a speed test.


Here's how Faster 150 Fibre is installed:

  1. We'll install your new Openreach modem within reach of a wall socket. You can choose to have your modem mounted on the wall or freestanding
  2. Next we'll set up your Wi-Fi Hub and connect it to your Openreach modem via the red WAN port
  3. If your modem and Wi-Fi Hub are far away from your main phone socket, we'll install a new main phone socket within reach of your equipment or use extension wiring to extend the broadband signal from your existing main phone socket to the modem
  4. Once your equipment is installed, the engineer will connect one of your devices to confirm your services are up and running
  5. Finally, we'll run a speed test for you and keep a record of the result

 

If the engineer can't connect your TalkTalk Wi-Fi Hub to the Openreach modem on your installation day, they will order a new Wi-Fi Hub for next day delivery. Once your new Wi-Fi Hub arrives, simply plug one end of the Ethernet cable into the LAN port on your Openreach modem and plug the other end into the red WAN port on the back of your Wi-Fi Hub.
