To get you ready for the speeds offered by Fibre 150 and Fibre 250, we'll send an expert engineer to install your services and optimise your in-home setup. Choose an option below for more information about your installation.
When you order Fibre 150 or 250, we’ll agree an installation date with you. We'll then give you a 2 hour arrival timeslot between 7am and 5pm for your appointment. If your plans change, you can change your appointment date up to 2 working days prior to the agreed date. If you need to reschedule, check out our article Your TalkTalk engineer appointment to find out how.
The technology we use for Fibre 150 and Fibre 250 is different to normal Fibre. So, we will need to send you a TalkTalk modem device and a TalkTalk Wi-Hub through the post. Note - If our records show that you already have our latest router (TalkTalk Wi-Fi Hub) then you won’t be sent a new router, you will only be sent the TalkTalk modem.
Your new equipment should arrive a few days before your engineer installation date – we will advise on the date they are due to arrive. You can also check progress on the Track Order page on My Account. Note – the devices will not fit through your letter box so may be left in a safe place if you are not in when our courier arrives. They will leave a note if this is the case.
Please ensure you give the device(s) and any cables we have sent you to the installation engineer when they arrive, as they will install and connect your new Fibre service.
On your installation day, please provide the engineer with any new equipment we have sent you.
Your engineer will carry out any necessary work at the street cabinet and complete an assessment of your in-home setup including:
The engineer will then discuss what changes are needed, if any, to your in-home setup and how long it will take to complete the work. Once you're happy, they'll begin the installation.
Here's how Fibre 150 or Fibre 250 is installed:
On a small number of Fibre 150/250 installation’s the engineer may not be able to get the minimum speed (100Mb/s) necessary to provide your service, if this is the case the engineer will not be able to complete the install and instead will leave your current service running. Please contact TalkTalk if this is the case and we will look to order the next best service available on your line.
If the engineer can get speeds above 100Mb/s, but are unable to connect your TalkTalk Wi-Fi Hub to the TalkTalk modem on the installation day, they will contact us to order a new Wi-Fi Hub for next day delivery. Once your new Wi-Fi Hub arrives, simply plug one end of the Network cable into the LAN port on your TalkTalk modem and plug the other end into the red WAN port on the back of your TalkTalk Wi-Fi Hub. Take a look at Set up your Wi-Fi Hub for Fibre 150/250 for more information.
