My partner recently died and the broadband was in his name so I rang up talktalk to cancel his account and had to set up a new one in my name but have been told it’s been rejected as there’s a cease order on the line what can I do?

Ok, perhaps understandably so in the circumstances. But the TalkTalk service you cancelled is now no longer in place. So you must ask any new provider to set you up on the basis that you do not have an existing phone number.

If you had asked the new provider to organise a switch then that may have been more straightforward. As it is you should go back to the new provider and point out to them you have cancelled the service with TalkTalk and thus lost your existing phone number. So the new provider will need to provide you with a new number in order to set up a service.

So have you cancelled the TalkTalk account? That will explain the cease order.

I am sorry to hear of your loss. If you cancelled the account then that will explain the cease order. Is your intention to keep it? Wait until one of the support team here pick this up and they can advise further.
