On and off since 10pm tonight, but nothing has been flagged up as pending for maintenance in my area tonight.
It looks like it's not internal to my house, but I nevertheless get this:
Nothing to do with my cables etc....
Multiple dropouts .... restored for a short while then dropouts ....rinse, repeat.
Sometimes it's all red, to the wifi symbol.
Nothing flagged up anywhere else though.
Then assorted speed results.
That 18Mbps is almost unheard of for me. Maybe someone has plugged something back in?
Holding up better now:
Can you check whether there was work at my local exchange, c 10pm - 10.40pm Tuesday 29th April?
It's alarming when there's no indication of a works schedule. [Nothing showing in Service Status Dashboard - is the team that posted those schedules still with us on the forum?]
If I had been in the middle of transactions / banking, it would have been a complete mess.
As it was, I got in a panic when I couldn't log onto my energy bills....!
Would be helpful to know the reason for this going on this evening.

No, @sabelo-TT.
I am just checking back via public WiFi while I am out and about today.
As I said, I have simply left the router switched off at home all day while I am out.
This should mean it has a chance to restart with a fresh session at the exchange when I get back later on.
I will see if that helps it settle down again overnight.
The reason I had my suspicions about the local network was that there are extremely complicated works going on in Cambridge at the moment and lines could easily get damaged in the process.
You'll also see that in one of my investigations in my first post, the red bit is on the universe/ globe to the router, but OK for WiFi.
So something was on the blink on and off "out there", not at home.

@Gliwmaeden2 have you tried conducting a factory reset to your router when you decided the issue with your broadband connection?
on 30-04-2025 08:56 AM
Not at all @Gliwmaeden2 as I have not received results of being works done in your local area, but I can see you've had connection drops on the line - this will have impacted the devices you use, regardless of whether you use Wi-Fi or a cable to connect.
hear that you are currently going out but will continue to look into this matter on my end 🙂

The dial tone is normal if I lift the receiver and as this has been happening overnight, I have not been making calls at 1.00am to test the quality of the line.
I have posted in my previous post that I will be out all day - from just a few minutes time now, and will leave the router off today. Any further questions will have to be left for another date as I will be late for my appointments....
I'll update if I notice any changes for the better.
Did you check, as I asked, whether work was being done in my neighbourhood last night, @sabelo-TT?

With this being said, Do you find that your internet cuts out whenever you make or receive phone calls from your landline?
on 30-04-2025 08:11 AM
@Gliwmaeden2, Good morning. I am checking on the matter on my end as I do see that your line is currently unstable as you have noticed on your end.
Just to double check, do you have any issues with calls on your telephone line?

Still no good for anything this morning.
Can't even run a test:
I can't stay in for checking it today, so will switch the router off while I am out and see if it has sorted itself by this evening.

Down again at 00.39 on 30.04.25.
A couple of minutes.
Some, on 29.04.25 were considerably longer.
Down again 00.42, so only stayed up a minute.....
Further dropouts after 1.00am....
So glad that I don't have a smart telly! At least I can use mine when the Internet is down.....!
