Hi. We upgraded our TV contract a day or two ago and were surprised with the speed with which we got the new TV Hub Box - practically within 48 hours of changing the contract.
However, this is where being impressed fails.
We've just spent a really frustrating Saturday afternoon trying to get this thing to work as advertised, and it isn't. We've followed the instructions, the wiring is correct and correctly located, everything is switched on, we've tried to switch it all off and switch it all on again - and nothing is happening. The "how to" guide on youtube is worse than useless, as it assumes at some point in the process the screen will light up with instructions and tell you how to proceed. At this point the new remote control should automatically connect to the TV set and then be the principal method of inputting instructions. It isn't. It is not doing a damn thing. Neither the new nor the old remote functions. Trying to use the manual buttons on the TV set to access any set-up instructions - nothing related to TalkTalk comes up. If we cannot get those instructions to come up on screen, the thing is functionally useless.
Two things: I've noticed that on the internet router, five of the six lights along the top have come up green and remain green. The sixth, marked "TV", is dead and is showing neither red nor green. Is this part of the problem? The TV light on the router remains dead despite frequent resets.
Also, our TV (works beautifully, no problems) is possibly 18 years old and is not a smart set. Is this the problem? Is an 18 year old non-smart LG TV simply incompatible with the latest model TV Hub? In which case we may as well dismantle it and set our old TV box up again - at least that worked?
Thanks for any advice. It's a frustrating day!

Ahwell. (thank you, Ferguson, it may indeed be looking in that direction. If the TV does turn out to be incompatible, this is one for TalkTalk's sales people, maybe, who could make this clearer at point of sale?)
The notes say "You can now pair your remote to the TV Hub by pressing and holding the OK and Home buttons together until the blue light flashes on your remote. A Message will then appear on screen 'Connecting to TalkTalk PC408' and after several seconds will display ‘TalkTalk PC408 connected’."
OK and Home buttons duly pressed together and the blue light does indeed flash on the remote for quite a surprisingly long time. Meanwhile on the TV screen - nothing whatsover happens, despite all wiring and connections having been checked. And this is where we're stuck and the "how to" guide fails to be of any sort of assistance.
Conclusion - TV may not be up to the job? (There's still the thing where every light on the router comes up green, except for "TV").

It may be that your TV is too old to support the latest HDMI connection standard.
