Ask us about your TalkTalk email account and Webmail.

Today I've started to get this message when trying to send email via smtp.talktalk.net using SMTP.
5.7.1 <my.email@dsl.pipex.com>: Sender address rejected: You are blocked sending mail
This is happening to two accounts, but not a third.
NOTHING has changed at my end.
So what is going on, and how do I regain my ability to send email?

I actually had a (nice, friendly) 'phone call from TT Support today.
I was driving to a football match at the time,. so delayed it until I was at the pub (asked for a call-back).
Where it was noted that I had one account marked as blocking sending and another as blocking sending and receiving.
Both have now been reset to allow all.
As for why it happens - well, there are monitoring tools that do this automatically. But it would be nice if those tools added a comment to the account as to why they had blocked something (which rule the account fell foul of).
I wonder when the next blocking will be?

Well, one of the accounts is back, but I'm still waiting for the other one to be unblocked.
No explanation of why they were blocked in the first place.
(But then no-one has ever explained why I've had 3 accounts completely disabled at the same time on a few occasions over the last 2 years.)

Hi gmlack, please send me a personal message with the affected email address. You need to reset the password for the mailbox and use a new password that's never been used before.

Didn't think it would be, which is why I tried an online help chat (once I remembered it was there).

The forum support team is not on here at weekends, @gmlack.
Your thread is in a queue for attention and it's best not to follow up before you hear back from staff, to keep your thread moving forward in the workflow to reach them.

Just spent 2 hours on a chat with the help line, but got nowhere.
Kept having to explain that since the error message can be generated by TT Webmail when sending to another TT account it is nothing to do with any client email set-up I may have.
It's an SMTP login failure, but not sure that anyone knew how to handle such a specific problem.
It's been escalated and I can expect a phone call in the next 2 or 3 days.
I'd like to think that, in the meantime, someone who understands the SMTP server set-up gets involved.

I've just tried sending from TT Webmail, and it refuses to send too.
Message could not be sent to the following recipients: ["my.gmail@gmail.com" <my.gmail@gmail.com>] (554 - 554 5.7.1 <my.email@dsl.pipex.com>: Sender address rejected: You are blocked sending mail
)
I'm still receiving email OK on TalkTalk....
