Duplicate emails with a line through them

A lot of my incoming emails have come up with a second or third copy which has a line through it. I don't know why, and I would like to get rid of them. I can do it one at a time, but there are a large number. Any suggestions? There was scammer activity, now sorted.

Hi, @fr8ys

It seems the OP was quite happy to leave the duplicate clutter, as is, after the advice of @angelique-TT and @siphosethu-TT

I was attempting to clarify, not confuse. Maybe he can get that clutter out of his Inbox.

@Billx please don't confuse the issue for the OP by asking questions to of @siphosethu-TT or @angelique-TT as this is not your thread.

Thank you.

Hi @siphosethu-TT

I am using Google Chrome browser, and TalkTalk webmail over that. That is the whole system I use.

It all depends on how well you know TalkTalk webmail.

There's no way for me to do it in my end, you'll have to go to your settings and check it out. I can provide a few steps, but it will depend on which systems you are using when accessing your emails. Thanks

Hi, @angelique-TT

I have all the emails in the Inbox, all entries in the message list column, marked with a 'line through'. When viewing any email, they are perfectly whole and unaffected.

Might there be a way to reverse the 'line through' s in the message list column?

Hi, @Anton4

I think it's best to remove the clutter, if you can.

First check, 3 or 4 sets of duplicates to verify, that the copies with the 'line through' are indeed duplicates of the one without the 'line through'. Then, select all the emails in the folder, then holding the control key on the keyboard, untick all the emails without the 'line through'. Then find the delete command, and delete them.

Thanks, I think I will just ignore them rather than risk causing more problems.

When you see an email with a strikethrough, it typically means that the email is marked for deletion. However, the email is not permanently deleted until it is purged from the system. This feature can be helpful if you accidentally delete an important email and need to retrieve it.

The apparent duplicates are next to the originals, which I want to keep. I would have to go through selecting every second email to delete them, and there are a very large number. I guess they must be recognised as duplicates, otherwise why the line through them? Perhaps what is wanted is some way to identify duplicates(?) or is there some other way to get rid of them?

Good morning Anton4. Will you be able to select all those emails and delete them instead at once instead of doing it one at a time?
