Homecall email via Gmail app, not able to send emails (queued) but can recieve them - help!

Can anyone help. I'm trying to remotely help my dad set up his email on a new tablet via the gmail app. We've tried various settings for incoming and outgoing mail. He can receive mail but all outgoing mail is queued. Can anyone assist?

Settings we've tried....
Incoming Mail Settings
Incoming mail server mail.talktalk.net
Use SSL (for Apple iOS) Set to ON (Green)
Security Type (for Android) SSL/TLS or SSL
Encryption Method (for Windows/Mac Mail SSL/TLS
Server Port (alldevices if using IMAP) 993
Server Port (all devices if using POP3) 995
Outgoing Mail Settings
Outgoing mail server smtp.talktalk.net
Use SSL for Apple iOS) Set to On (Green)
Security Type (for Android) STARTTLS or TLS
Encryption Method (for Windows) STARTTLS
Server Port (all devices) 587

Have also tried varuos POP3 and IMAP settings but nothing works. Have also tried smtp.homecall.co.uk Port 587

Is there somethinig I'm missiing wit the App rather than just the mail server settings?

Hi dcork, the first thing to do is to set all the settings as per the email settings help article. Then he must reset the email password to something he's never used before. Once that's done if sending doesn't work after an hour let me know.

They recommend using IMAP not POP3.

 

Worth trying setting up on the tablet's own email app rather than Gmail?
