Old Screaming.net email

I once had an old screaming.net email address many years ago. I just wanted to check whether it was closed just incase anything important had been sent there. How do I do this?

If I go on to reset password it comes up with "The email address entered does not have a TalkTalk domain. Please try again." Presumably this means it no longer exists?

Thank you

Got the PM, and as discussed, confirms my initial diagnosis that the mailbox has been deleted because of non-use for at least 12 months.

Sorry to be the bearer of unwelcome news.

OK. The Verifalia check and the TalkTalk password recovery process will both come up with the messages you've seen when checking an alias address. So, they're not a definitive check. But if the email send came back as undeliverable then that would certainly indicate that the alias address is no longer recognised which means the mailbox no longer exists. Mailboxes are flagged for deletion when not used for 6 months and deleted after a year. So, although there was only one positive result out of three I'd say the mailbox is deleted.

In your alias address what's the part between the @ symbol and the screaming.net domain?

Sorry all I know is the actual email address I used to use. I have no idea what the master email address is. I have not accessed this in a long time

Do you know the master screaming.net address? That'll usually be of the form mailbox@screaming.net whereas the alias will probably be of the form username@mailbox.screaming.net and it would be best to retry with the master address in all cases.

Thanks for the reply. Verifalia comes up with "Risky email type, the external mail exchanger accepts fake and non-existent e-mail addresses; therefore the provided e-mail address MAY not exist. The existence of the individual mailbox cannot be verified. "

Test email produces

"A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:"

However sending emails from other email accounts does not seem to produce any bounceback so I am confused as to the status of this.

Your test. Was that with an alias address or the primary address for the screaming.net mailbox? An alias address will come up with the 'no domain' error. A deleted mailbox master address will also come up with the 'no domain' error.

What happens when you send either email address a message? Does it get bounced back as 'Undeliverable'?

When testing with Verifalia does that website indicate 'Deliverable' or something else?
