I am trying to send an email to a relative, but every time it just bounces back with the message " We can't accept this message because it is spam".  They do not receive any email.

Thank you.

We don't remember receiving any emails apparently from TalkTalk, like you describe.  However, about a month ago, we thought our account might have been compromised, because 4 emails appeared in our sent box that we hadn't sent.  Presumably, this is why our emails are being seen as spam.  We changed our password and did virus checks on our devices.  I've also checked that no forwarding or filtering has been set up.  There were no changes on the account and no viruses were found.  At the time,  TalkTalk appeared to be doing an upgrade of the system, and we wondered whether this had caused the spurious emails.

Have you recently received an email apparently from TalkTalk asking you to verify or rescue your account and followed the link?

If you email address may have been compromised and being used to send out spam which is why spam filters are rejecting your legitimate mailing.

If you have, I'd suggest you

  • Export your address book so it does not get lost.
  • Change your password
  • Check if any mail forwarding has been setup on your account
  • Run a virus and malware scan on your devices that you use to access you emails.

If your email address has been spoofed there is not a lot you can do until spammers move onto someone else's address.

Hopefully it will resolve itself in time.

You could also do an internet search as there are some suggestions you could try.
