Some of my messages are getting put into SPAM even though similar messages don't

I have a Synology NAS box. I have it set up so that when it sends me a notification it sends an email using one of my TALKTALK email addresses. It uses the same email address for both sender and receiver.

However some of the emails end up in SPAM on my TALKTALK email account and others which are basically the same message with different times etc. in them don't.

I tried adding the the email address to the ALLOWLIST. This gets  'You can not add yourself to the Allowlist.' I can't for the life of me see why this email address is not already in the Allowlist.

Any help appreciated....

Hi @dzc10 thanks for the update, glad we could help, if only as a sounding board.

If you are happy with your solution mark a post as best answer and then the TT team will ignore the thread,

Well Eureka all my mail arrived exactly as it should. I was only using the TALKTALK mailboxes as an interim solution while I change Domain and Email hosting services. I didn't expect it would take me so much time to set it up.

FYI what I am doing is temporarily forwarding my old Email hosting mailboxes to individual TALKTALK mailboxes, changing my mail clients to get emails from TALKTALK temporarily, then when my setup is successfully moved to my new hosting service, reversing all of this so that I no longer use the TALKTALK mail.

No that seems to work, although I won't know for definite till tomorrow morning. I tried it with generated test message, but the Synology Box won't send the real messages till 2 a.m. tomorrow morning.

Hi @dzc10 couldn't agree with you more. It's why I don't use ISP related email addresses.

Mercifully with Microsoft, Google, and Proton I've never had a problem and they are portable so when I eventually wave TT goodbye I don't have the nuisance of updating anything.

I changed by Synology box to send from one of my TALKTALK email account to another. Message still went into SPAM... so added that TALKTALK email account into the others ALLOWLIST. That seems to work.

You really would think all of your TALKTALK email accounts could send messages to each other and themselves without all this nonsense.

I'll try it and see what happens.. Just seems daft that your own mail address is not in the allowed sender list.

Hi @dzc10 do you have the same issue using different email accounts?
