Totally confused and frustrated with scam messages from everymail and contradictory talktalk emails! I'm trying to move my talktalk email account to a subscription everymail account BUT am not getting anywhere. Any help welcome!

Quite agree, appalling service from both Talktalk and Everymail. Do not know what to do.

Absolutely agree - have just had v similar experience to you today, having had a (constructive, I misguidedly thought) TalktTalk web chat with live human being yesterday. Today have just been continually sent back to TalkTalk and could not find the '"My Account" section of the website' referred to when I went to Everymail for support to transition to Everymail. Am going on holiday on Monday 15th, tied up both Wed and Thurs this week. Looks as if my brother and I will have to simply abandon TalkTalk account and all past emails and fix up a new email address elsewhere. Nightmare - appalling service from both TalkTalk and Everymail.

@larraine1, I've posted examples of the scams here:
https://community.talktalk.co.uk/t5/Email/The-latest-SCAM-variant/td-p/3148417#M200158
You'll see that superficially the emails appear to come from Everymail and to a collective list with a talktalk.co.uk domain name which may fool some people.
There will be other variants out there.
If you are a current customer of Talktalk you should be having nothing to do with Everymail.
If you have been using a legacy email address you need to make sure that it's associated with your current broadband account by contacting Talktalk directly for them to complete a webform and process the information. Then your use of email should continue while you are a Talktalk Broadband customer, without extra charge for the email service.
If you have recently left, as Fr8ys says, wait for Talktalk to send you the email containing the important link for subscribing to Everymail.
Mailplus and long since departed customers are dealt with differently in order to continue to use their addresses through Everymail, so are subject to the specific deadline dates mentioned in the FAQs link posted by Fr8ys.
If you need further clarification, you really do need to spell out your current status as a Talktalk customer whether to forum members trying to help you or to Talktalk customer services.
NB, phone support on 03451 720088 is closed till Monday 9am now. Chat is only available through signing into My Account and Live Chat closes at 9pm tonight. Open on Sunday, after 8am.

This should only happen if you no longer have a current TalkTalk broadband service, is that the case?

Yes.
You can find transition FAQs here

Many thanks - I did receive several emails purporting to come from everymail about this. However the senders addresses were from hotmail.com accounts and so ignored them thinking they were scams.
To check, the email requesting sign-up would come talktalk and NOT everymail?
Thanks again...

You can only transfer once you receive an email requesting you sign up.
You can only use the link and can't sign up direct.
Check the sender is legitimate before clicking on any link.
The only email sent out by mistake was one a couple of months back. Recent ones from TalkTalk are legitimate if you have received these.
