I want to change my Tiscali (TalkTalk) account password. Is the main account password the same as my email password?
Thanks

Hi, @jawatto
That's a very unusual setup. Because about 2 years ago, TalkTalk imposed the condition that to register and use MyAccount, the customer had to use a non-TalkTalk email address as username for MyAccount. I.E. non- tiscali.co.uk. e.g. Yahoo, Outlook, Google etc.
I wasn't aware that they had reversed that.
I don't think it is 100% sure that if you change your current password in one place it will at the same time change in the other.
If you change it in one place and it doesn't change in the other, I think you'll probably be able to change it separately in the other (to the same password that you want).
So, I would change the password for you email using one of the two options mentioned above.
And, if necessary, then change your password for MyAccount at https://service.talktalk.co.uk/accountdetails

There's nothing stopping you from using the same password for both. It's very poor from a security point of view, but that's all.

Hi Ady,
I dont want to change the email address.
i currently use a Tiscali email address and password to access both my Account and web mail. The same details get me into both systems. All i want to do is change my (one and only) password, but i still only want to have one single login for both Account & web mail. I want to make sure that i don't end up with 2 different passwords.

So you want to use the TalkTalk email address to log in to MyAccount, but you're worried that changing the email address will result in 2 different passwords or you think it will mean you have to change the email address for MyAccount?

Thanks for the replies & sorry if i have not been clear.
I have used TalkTalk/Tiscali for many years and i have only ever had one login that allows me to access both My Account & Web mail. When i log into Account if i then want to see Web mail i have to log in again, but its using the same details as i use for My Account. I want to change my (one and only) password and do not want to use 2 different logins.
When i try the option suggested by Billx to visit TalkTalk mailbox i see an option to change Mailbox password, but i wonder if i do this i will end up with 2 different logins (you seem to indicate this would be the norm).
If i try the 2nd option from Billx to reset password, will i still retain my single log in for both Account & Mail ?
So to sum up i want to change password but still only have one (the same) login for both Account and web mail.

Might be best for the OP to clarify before we attempt to offer further advice?

Sorry,
I didn't receive your message saying that you use the same one email address to get into both my Account and the web mail
So, that changes things.
Since you want to change the one and only password.
You can try changing it either via MyAccount or via webmail.
Since you had problems via MyAccount, try changing it via the link above at Mail Box Hub, visit your TalkTalk Mailbox
But doing it this way, it will still take you via MyAccount, then to visit your TalkTalk Mailbox
If that's not successful, reset your password at https://myaccount.talktalk.co.uk/forgotdetails/index/webmailindex
On the other hand, I can not understand how you are able to login to both with the same email address.

I am a wee bit confused here. Are you trying to change your Tiscali email password, or your login details to TalkTalk My Account?

I didn't notice.
I've said above how to login to your 'MyAccount'.
But you also said your don't usually use the browser to login to TalkTalk webmail.
To login to TalkTalk webmail using your browser, go to https://apps.talktalk.co.uk/appsuite
Enter your tiscali.co.uk email address and the associated password.
I'll tell you later, how to change the password in either case, after you able to login in both cases.

You probably set them the same initially.
Mine are different.

I have one set of login details....my one Tiscali email address and one password, this allows me to access my Account, then if i want to view mail i enter the same details again.

@jawatto please see my reply. They are not connected. They are 2 separate systems.
on 03-03-2025 07:40 PM
Thanks for the reply.....I only have one login and that currently takes me to both my Account & web mail.

Thanks Bill, I use the same one email address only to get into both my Account and the web mail. As said in previous message, i get to a change password area but it only said Mailbox password.....can i assume when i change there it will still only be 1 (new) password to access both Account and web mail ?
on 03-03-2025 07:32 PM
I wasn't talking about the passwords you use in the 2 cases.
I am talking about the 2 email addresses you use, 1st to login to MYAccount, and 2nd to login to the tiscali.co.uk email account.
So, are you using the same email address to login to the 2 accounts?

Your mail password does not connect to your My Account password.
You should be able to change your mail password via webmail and then be prompted to input this into any mail client you use, when sending or receiving the first time.
on 03-03-2025 07:06 PM
Sorry if i am being dim about this....i view mail using a client and so never log in to the web mail. I did as you suggested and yes i could log in to both my account and web mail, so looks like one password for both. But when i try change password i get this
This TalkTalk email address lives in your TalkTalk Mailbox.
To update your password, please visit your TalkTalk Mailbox
when i visit Mailbox the only option is to change the Mailbox password,, i would be reassured if it also said Account password. Perhaps i am worrying too much. Guess i will try to change and see....thanks for you help.

Why don't you try to login to MyAccount, to see first if that is successful?
Go to https://www.talktalk.co.uk in your browser and click on 'MyAccount' at the top right.
Enter your email address (as I said, it should a non-TalkTalk email address) and the associated password.
After doing this, is it successful?

Hi, thanks for the reply.
My login is my Tiscali email address then a password. I can see an option to change my email password but it doesnt mention anything about an account password, i assume they are the same, but not really 100%.

Hi, @jawatto
As far as I know, 2 years ago customers were not allowed to continue using their TalkTalk account and password, as their username and password to log into the Main MyAccount. They had to use a non-TalkTalk email address and password to do so.
So, what are you now using to log into your MyAccount?
As far as I know, your Tiscali password is entirely separate from your MyAccount password.
