I live in a smallish bungalow. Broad band does not reach my bedroom. 11yards away. I have been using a TP link. About 9 years old. This has stopped working. Bought a new set. Cannot get it working

Hi @yelsel1

When you get the booster, if you have any problems, I can help with both products.

Purely to extend an Ethernet cable over your mains electricity, nothing else. They will not improve your Wi-Fi reception at all.

The old ones worked for 9 years.

What are theseTP links intended for?

They will not help you extend your Wi-Fi at all. The easiest & best way to extend your WiFi coverage is to buy a Sagemcom FAST266 Wi-Fi Booster. These are available from the Better Value Team, just buy one single unit for £30 (assuming they are still half price) plus delivery.

My router is at the east end of my home.(small 3 bed bungalow) The computer is next to it. The master phone socket is here also. It was moved by an engineer couple of months back from middle of home, but it did not improve wi fi . Engineer coming today to sort it out. Wi fi has never reached the west side of home. I had TP links in use for about 9 years. These recently stopped working . So I bought new. Exactly the same. I cannot get them working .It is to use Ipad .We only have 2 i pads + tele, and not much other devices

Please forget all about Ethernet cables at the moment.

Please explain what you are trying to connect to your router and why you think you need these TP-Link devices will help you?

Only the yellow one will be correct. However, as I asked before, what are you trying to achieve with this setup?

Ethernet cables can be any colour. If it is a TalkTalk-supplied one that is yellow. If the grey cable was supplied by TalkTalk, that is not an Ethernet cable at all, but an ADSL/VDSL cable. This is an example of an Ethernet cable:-

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Amazon-Basics-Gigabit-Ethernet-Networks/dp/B00N2VISLW/ref=sr_1_21?crid=1C3K...

However, if you do not know what a wired device is, what do you want to use these TP-Link's for and what sort of device of yours do you want to connect to the router via them? Your TP-Link units, as I said before, cannot connect to wireless devices at all, only Ethernet ones.

I used to have a set of those Power Line Adapters and they were fine for extending the Ethernet ports. They have no Wi-Fi component to them at all. There is no router configuration required with them. You do not need any TP-Link utility to get them to work.

If you connect an Ethernet cable from one TP-Link to an Ethernet port (not WAN port) on the Sagemcom, and from the same on the other unit to your wired device, what lights are shown on each TP-Link?

Pass through powerline  starter kit. TL-PA4010P kit

Sagemcom router.

The instructions for installing have been tried numerous time.

I am not the best for understanding technical terms
