Hello,
For several weeks now my internet speed has been very erratic fluctuating from less than 10mbps to under 32Mbps at best with no stability. I've run several TT line checks which have reported no fault, disconnected the router twice for 30 mins to reset - which restores a good speed only for it to drop out again later - as well as quick restarts to restore the connection.
This is now happening more and more regularly and when it is working the average speed is around 26mbps, causing buffering on my TV box - connected with powerline adapters - and occasionally no streaming. Over the last week the router has completely dropped out and won't reconnect without a hard restart.
This has happened in the past and was rectified with a replacement router. Assistance please.

Hello,
Ok thank you. This is just to help us to determine which engineer is required.
Thanks

I'll check them later and also see what it's like this evening without them plugged in at all

We can arrange an engineer visit to investigate but probably best to check the telephone line first as this affects the type of engineer that we send and a telephone fault could be the cause of the problems that you are experiencing

Again not at home right now so can't check but we've not been having any problems as far as I'm aware.

Thanks. Are you experiencing any problems with your telephone service, any noise on the line? Is there a dial tone?

I have one extension socket with nothing plugged in - it doesn't have a test socket either. Both were fitted by an Openreach engineer (sent by TT) several years ago when rectifying a loop.

Thanks for trying that. Do you just have the one telephone socket in your home, or do you have extension sockets?

Hi,
I'm not sure if my master socket has a test socket - NTE 5C Mk4 - however, I removed the faceplate/filter and reconnected with a dangle filter. The speed dropped to 10Mbps compared to 42Mbps with the faceplate on.
Last night the speed dropped down to 26Mbps with the faceplate on. This seems to be what happens fairly consistently.

Morning,
How are you getting on?
Thanks

When you get home could you connect your router to the test socket and monitor to see if the speed fluctuations and connection drop continue. Please let us know how you get on

Hi Chris,
No, I don't think so. I'm not at home so unable to check.

Hi joneeboy,
I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing problems with your service. Line test is passing but I can see that there have been lot of reconnection over the last couple of days. Is your router currently connected to your test socket - Your guide to main phone sockets - TalkTalk Help & Support
