oh hey, it's one of those "port forwarding is not working" posts!

router is HG633

have made a new port mapping application, tcp/udp with correct single port

have made a new port mapping and assigned it to my machine as local host (mac laptop, wireless)

not able to connect to server running on machine

port opening online sites report port is closed.

unsure how to proceed, not able to verify the ip being used with the port, can only use e.g. "what is my ip" to show external ip - unfortunately the help says can click on device icon to see the ip but this does not work

can anyone suggest things to check, or points of possible error?

many thanks

That looks basically OK, but I have three questions:-

  1. Does your laptop have any personal firewall on it (not the router's firewall, no need to touch that)? If it does have a firewall then you need to allow this port through it as an inbound connection.
  2. Does the laptop connect directly to the router's Wi-Fi or to some other extender or 2nd router etc?
  3. You have set the Protocol to TCP/UDP. Which one though does this port actually use TCP or UDP or is it really both?

hi! thanks a lot - not sure what you can get from these

the blacked out part is the name of my machine - literally the name, not the ip

if you need any more info please ask 🙂

Please can you include screenshots of the configuration that you have used & I should be able to help you?
