I have managed to get hold of an ONT enclosure. How easy is it to pull the Fibre Optical Cable out of the ONT ? Are there any hidden clips that need to be disengaged before it will disconnect? As I have to feed the cable through the back of the box I don't want to break any thing.

Hi @Michelle-TalkTalk

This Openreach video website includes a video that demonstrates what member @G8YDE is hoping to achieve by fitting a casing for the already installed ONT.

I hope this helps.

Morning,

Apologies for the confusion, what issues are you experiencing with the ONT?

Thanks

Michelle

If the green fibre optic plug is like most just grip the sides of the green plug and gently ease out.

The first thing you'll notice is that the LOS led will go red. That's if you still have the ONT powered.

Tips:

  • Clean the area thoroughly before and during installation
  • Don't touch the clear end of the plug
  • Don't look into the clear end of the plug
  • Protect the plug by enclosing it in a sterile plastic bag to ensure that no dust or grease gets the end of the plug contaminated. You'll probably not have the same plug cleaning kit that the installers use.
  • Don't bend the cable
  • If the LOS led is red after re-powering and re-connecting then something went wrong!
