Hive hub and Eero not working

Hi,

Recently changed to future fibre 900 from a different provider which meant getting rid of their old router. This has wired connections to both a Philips hue hub and a hive hub which worked well.

Removing that router has meant I have less Ethernet ports now and so I got a network switch. My topography as of right now is ONT -> Eero -> network switch -> hue hub/hive hub.

What I've found however is that everything works as normal except the hive hub. That is unable to connect to the internet and flashes green continuously. So far, hive nor eero technical support can offer any guidance other than telling ISP to open some ports which does not seem to have fixed other commenters issues.

Any help please?

After powering off the hive hub for two minutes and then connecting back to power and plugging into the network switch, the hive hub indicator light flashed green for around 40 minutes and then turned solid green everything has been fine since.

Hi @ricksmith

Look at posts 6 & 7 previously. If that does not answer your questions, you cannot use someone else's thread.

To get help, you must start your own thread. To create your own thread, go to the main page for the board in question & click the "Start a topic" button.

TalkTalk insists on one thread per problem per customer. Please note, TalkTalk makes the rules, not me.

Thanks.

Hi @ricksmith

I merely told the OP how to forward the ports that he was told that were necessary, I have no way of testing this myself.

Hi @jlbutler_22

In the Eero app if you go to Advanced Settings

In there, you will need to set up a DHCP Reservation for the IP address of your hue hub/hive hub, whichever is the device you are going to forward the ports to. Then create the relevant rules to forward theseports.

I can't be any more precise about this, as I have never seen the Eero configuration, but if you want to get me some screenshots of this from the app, I will be able to advise you further.

Hi @jlbutler_22

Are these ports for connection to the internet or from the internet to your device? If the former, all ports are open in the outbound direction. If the connection is from the internet to the device, that is different. In that case, port forwarding will need to be configured in the router. I can help you to do this, but I will need to know which TCP or UDP ports need to be opened.

Hi @KeithFrench

these ports are from the internet to the device, so from the ONT to the Eero, then on to Network Switch (or without this step) and finally to the Hive Hub. Hive did ask me to sort port forwarding for the following ports;

UDP port 123 (NTP)
TCP port 443 (HTTPS)
TCP 5671 (AMQPS)

Hi jlbutler_22,

Have you tried connecting the hive hub directly too the eero for testing purposes, to see if you experience the same issue as you do when connected via he switch?

Chris

Hi,

Yeah, i've been in contact with troubleshooting with Eero so we tried plugging it directly into the only connection remaining on the gateway eero as well as on both my other satellite eeros in other rooms. As far as the Eero app is concerned, nothing is wired in to that socket and connected to the internet while my Philips Hue hub shows correctly when plugged either directly or via the network switch.

Thanks
