Using your own router with full fibre

Have decided to upgrade from Fibre 65 to Full Fibre 150 data broadband and would like to keep my existing Google Nest WiFi Pro mesh system. Have read conflicting advice as to whether you can just plug into the new ONT or whether you need to change the network settings to PPoE and enter talktalk user name and password. Any Google Pro users out there who can advise.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Success! Have now upgraded from Fibre 65 Fibre ( Fibre to the cabinet (copper wire) ) to Full Fibre (Fibre to the premises) 150 package using my existing router without needing to make any changes to the settings which may be of interest to other users.

My previous set up was a modem connected to the BT master socket and then my Google Router plugged into the modem.

On the day of Full Fibre installation, simply removed the modem and then connected the Google router to the new ONT box installed by Open Reach. So if your existing set up is also a modem and your own router with fibre to the cabinet ( copper wire from the nearest pole connected to your premises, you will be able to move onto the much faster and reliable full fibre service and retain your existing router.

Hopefully this will be of interest as very little information found on this subject and Talk Talk do not provide any useful information on third party routers with full fibre.

Good afternoon,

In theory this should work, however we can't support or advise on 3rd party equipment. One of our members may be able to offer additional advice on this.

Thanks
