hi all between  4.30pm and 7pm on 23/6/25 I had no internet, the connection checked out and showed connection to talktalk but no response from DNS server ( 79.79.79.79). I rebooted the router among other things but to no avail  I then changed the DNS server to google , 8.8.8.8 and a few minutes later the connection re-established itself , I haven't changed it back yet. Did anyone else have a problem or was it just a glitch on my line?

Hi there @blodwynblod , it sounds like you experienced a temporary DNS issue with your TalkTalk connection. When you encountered the problem, your router was connected to the TalkTalk network, but it couldn't reach the DNS server at 79.79.79.79, which is why you had no internet access.

Hi @blodwynblod nice diagnosis switching DNS servers. I, personally don't use the TT servers and have minimal issues. Remember though a lot of the TT security protection relies on using the TT servers.

I don't work here and all my opinions are my own.
