Email Hacked

Hi everybody,

I wonder if Ady can get in touch - I composed a long and detailed message about what happened re. my account and at the end I couldn't send it directly because it failed authentication for ticket mismatch.

In a nutshell, somebody recently hacked into my email, sent a simple message purporting to be from me to more than a hundred contacts. Those that replied were asked for money and some contactees were provided with a different talktalk email address to send the money to !

Luckily, I was not locked out and managed to change my password and have taken other steps to secure the account etc. but I need to report the details to talktalk for the good of everyone !

@RichardWiltshire

As advised please start your own thread as help is available to one person per thread.

Please also note this forum is not like chat. They are dealt with in order and reply times are stated as being 24 to 48 hours, but are often less than that.

Please therefore, as requested start your own thread.

Thank you.

@RichardWiltshire

Hi,
Please start your own thread as each case is considered unique and it is easier for support to be given to one person per thread and also less confusing.
To start your thread click the Browse button, then Help With Your Service and select the appropriate category. You will then see a Blue Button "Start A Topic"
Please also note that you should only post back on that thread and not start another on the same topic as multiple posts cause delay to you and others seeking help.
Thank you

Hi Bob747, if your hacked account had been sending spam still in numbers your mailbox would be blocked. If you've reset the password and the mailbox remains unblocked then you've done what's needed.

Ok, I've reported the matter as requested by fr8ys and it looks like Ady has viewed and approved my summary of events, but slightly disappointing that he hasn't contacted me directly in order to receive the (saved) full details as mentioned in my initial post.

Hi,

TalkTalk have requested that spam mail be reported to them.
How to do this can be found here
https://community.talktalk.co.uk/t5/Articles/Phishing-emails-amp-everything-you-need-to-know/ta-p/30....

This is a change to previous reporting so please follow the instructions as stated.

Thank you.
