Incorrect programme information

My guide keeps displaying wrong episode information. Every time I do a factory reset its fine for a day or two but then updates to a horrible yellow on the guide screen and when you hover over a programme it appears to show correct info but when you then press the "i" button it jumps to info from series 1 episode 1 of whatever show it is. Getting tired of resetting box to factory every 2 days - been going on almost a month

As the programme has an arrow next to it, this means it's in the catchup app.

Just hit enter and it should play the same programme in the app.

@Hypnogogic ,

I dont often suggest you look at another persons thread as the forum rules are really one person one thread, but as your and @Kerry53 issues are the same, it might be worth reading the various responses here.

Unfortunately there is nothing that can be done to accommodate your wishes as TalkTalk have no responsibility for the user interface, this is down to YouView, but I have suggested to support staff they pass back user dissatisfaction via the team responsible for TV, for YouView 's information.

I absolutely agree. I have my own thread on this and got some strange reason why this is the way it is now, and don’t really get it. I sent two photos over earlier showing how ridiculous it is, the guide shows a few words that’s why the i button is there. So where are they today, is it a country I would be interested in watching??? Who knows ..

The bit i find the strangest is that the correct episode information is displayed on the main guide screen when you move over the programme and only switches to the incorrect info when you press the "i" button. If only there was some way to increase the size of the info box on the main guide to read it all without ever needing to use the "i" button it would solve everything - it's really frustrating knowing the correct episode information is being accessed by the main guide but only able to read the first line as box too small to fit it all in

Ok sorry I didn't realise, I just a bit relieved it was just me going mad and I did respond to your helpful replies on my thread about it but I don't think they went through properly that's why there seems a bit of a gap between my replies.

It's not meant to be rude, but restating forum rules @Kerry53  as its one person per thread for help.

Yes other customers can comment, if it adds to the persons understanding or help of the issue raised.

It's a pity you didn't respond to the original requests for information under your thread so this could have been resolved earlier. It was only thanks to @Hypnogogic that I had the information to work from.

If you saw this as being rude, I apologize.

At least the issue now has an explanation.

I have responded here but please, as requested, follow up on your own thread if you require any further help.

Thank you

How rude! I already have a thread on this, I was the first person to bring this up weeks ago when noone else seemed to have an issue. I was just telling Hypnogogic that I also have the same problem, it's sometimes reassuring to know it's not just your box with the problem so obviously a technical problem that needs sorting

@Kerry53

Please stick to your own thread if you require further support but as you've seen, this looks like it is by design as it's across many channels.

TalkTalk have no control over the user interface so it's unlikely it will be changed back.

I am getting exactly the same for the last couple of weeks, did a factory reset also and after a few days it goes back to the lime green. I also got a new box but again after one week it all went wrong again. It's so annoying.

Investigating further, I've also noticed that on programmes that do not have the arrow next to them on U, if you click the I button the only option is to search, not play.

This leads me to suspect that as part of getting people to stream, and not skip adverts, and given this box is a streaming box, this is the only option, and they are driving their streaming agenda.

Whilst the Hub utilises the Youview interface, this one is built on top of an android box, so drawing comparisons with my other Youview box is probably not a helpful comparison.

As said, this does lead me to think this is done by design and cannot be altered.

Hi,

It's the same on mine.

This information is sent by the channel U and not something within TalkTalk 's control. Nor is the underlying software on the box, supplied by YouView.

The underlying user interface comes from YouView, but my other box with the YouView interface does show the correct episode information when the i button is pressed.

Some boxes display information differently and will act differently in interpreting the information transmitted by the broadcaster.

In this case, the Hub defaults to watch on demand, whereas my other YouView box it is watch live. Defaulting to Watch on Demand, which is by design for some reason as there is no watch live option, brings up the series details and not the daily one.

It's also doing the same on ITV channels, but not C4 or BBC ones having checked a few.

I suspect there is a technical reason for this and I've seen similar on the 4k box previously supplied by TalkTalk where the broadcast signal is low, or the quality of the picture is better via on demand than is being broadcast.

What is probably happening when you factory reset, is that the software is working by default on watch live, but once it registers the signal strength or the possibility of a better picture on demand, it is then changing to On Demand.

You can see more information by scrolling across to More Episodes, then finding today's one when the information is shown.

@Philile-TT  I'm not sure if this is a new feature to the Hub, but it might be worth feeding this back to the tech team to see if YouView can shed any additional light on this as this is now the third customer reporting this, but the first to respond with specific details which I have been able to replicate. Thank you @Hypnogogic for providing this information.

Oh and by the way Yellow is now TalkTalk 's corporate colour which is why the skin has changed to reflect this. The only way to change this is if you use high contrast black and white settings, designed for sight impaired users.
