Hi there

My Fibre 35 package plus phone doesn't finish till August 2026. I was led to believe I could upgrade to fill fibre before my present contract ends. at no extra cost  I've been told I would have to pay an admin fee of £3O . Is this right?  Thanks

The add ons are exactly as before,  so you would need to add the phone boost for anytime calls to avoid 24p per minute for ordinary 01, 02, 03 landline numbers and ordinary mobiles.

You can check back through posts from the past year or so in the ACTIVITY area of your profile to see where we have covered many of these points before  - nothing has changed since those replies, @norfolkdave.

When it comes to coordinating works between companies  - pretty much unheard of in this country....!

Thanks for your reply so I'll wait till my contract is nearly at it's end.

Just one more question. I know I can plug my landline into the router on full fibre with VOIP instead of the old copper line which is becoming redundant. It was 2025 now 2027 and that will probably slip again. I'm on Fibre 35 and added on a phone package. With full fibre will I have to add on a similar phone package or will that be included?

I live in a village on the outskirts of Norwich. They are still installing full fibre after a year! One company digs the pavement up, fills it it and another company digs again and fills it in. This has happened 3 or 4 times. The pavements are a right mess. I would have thought all the different companies could have coordinated.

Thanks again for your advice

Check out the rather long list of "one-off charges" on this page, @norfolkdave:

http://community.talktalk.co.uk/pricing

The trouble is that, unless you upgrade to Full Fibre when Talktalk offers it as a free upgrade [so the timing probably suits them] you will be stuck with some sort of charge if you change product / contract mid term.

So the £30 would apply even if you were not upgrading but simply thought you were taking out a better deal midway through your package. I think you last renewed in summer 2024?

You'll see that if they were charging for the installation it could be £60 - so this is not an installation charge but purely admin, like we get when something changes about car insurance midway through a year.

It's probably far too early for that to be waived, unless you haggle successfully with them.

Usually the best deals are in the last month of your contract. It used to be OK to renew within the final 3 months, but I don't know if even that still applies. You are still too early for that.
