By 2025, the UK's current phone network will be retired and upgraded from copper analogue lines to a digital service. So, if you want to keep your home phone, you'll have to switch to Digital Voice by then.

This is not, exactly a long way ahead

Any updates to when TT will be dealing with this EXTREMELY IMPORTANT issue ?

That's why I posted the Ofcom link, @Weevie.

It's wishful thinking on BT's part & "Government ambition".

@Gliwmaeden2

https://www.bt.com/about/bt/policy-and-regulation/keeping-the-uk-connected/fibre-for-all

"The Government’s ambition is to bring full fibre and gigabit capable broadband to every home and business across the UK BY 2025 and they made a commitment of £5 billion to support those that Openreach, and other network builders, can’t connect without public support."

Its a absolutely mahusive undertaking and will not come anywhere near 100% of UK in 10 years let alone the remaining  2 years !

and £5billion will not even touch the sides

25million lots of 4 hours is 100 million hours of work to complete in 2 years - totally impossible !!

As for public support - my pole climbing days are over as are my trench digging !

There won't be any staff response over the weekend, @Weevie, and this is in the lounge area, so may not be picked up.

Precisely how to keep the landline number is organised at the time of upgrading to Full Fibre.

Currently it differs, depending on whether City Fibre, Openreach etc do the infrastructure.

You'll be notified when it becomes available to you.

The switch over is ongoing during 2025, not by 2025....
