Is this the DVR that flashes orange? Is the CCTV system set to use DHCP for IP address allocation? If it is, you do not need to set any DNS servers up manually, as these will be assigned via DHCP. Does the CCTV appear as an online device within the eero app when it is connected via Ethernet?   You do not give a manufacturer or model number of the DVR, so it is very difficult for me to comment on its own onscreen setup menu. ... Hi @Chali    I support the 5364 router extensively & it is 100% mesh compatible. True, it only supports WiFi 5, whereas the Fast 266 Wi-Fi Booster does support WiFi 6 ( another product that I support). They DO combine together to form a mesh network, despite what you say. However, very few mesh manufacturers' UIs support other manufacturers' mesh products.   Hence, you will not get your TP-Link Wi-Fi Extenders (you do not give any model numbers) to work as a mesh with your Sagemcom FAST 5364 router. They will, however, work connected to the WiFi of the Sagemcom, provided that they can establish a WPS connection.   Where on earth do you get the idea that Wi-Fi 6 is reserved for Full Fibre? The two technologies are not related at all, as I said in my previous post. You could have a Wi-Fi 7 router working on a slow ADSL connection if you wanted, OK, that is pointless, but I make my point.   I would like to point out that the 5364 is not a modem; it is a router with a built-in ADSL/VDSL modem, which will itself also work on a Full Fibre network, but does not have built-in Digital Voice (VoIP) capability.   You do not give any clues as to what fault you have had that led up to the replacement of your 5364, so I cannot comment on that. Hi @Chali    The Sagemcom 5364 is most definitely mesh compatible. A mesh system works on the WiFi side of the router; the type of WAN link is therefore irrelevant, whether you are on full fibre or not. It works with the Sagemcom FAST 266 WiFi Booster to form a mesh network. Hi @jackieh2009    The DNS issue will only affect outgoing connections to the internet. Mind you, from a techie point of view, I don't know how the Skybox works. Any requests to stream or record something would be another outgoing session. That said, it might set up the media stream in an outbound session, telling the Sky servers to download the media using a port that it has specified. ... View more

Hi @19NoNickName19    None of the current Sagemcom routers (one of which I assume that you have) has a configuration option for WiFi Optimisation. As @Gliwmaeden2 pointed out, it cannot be disabled, so I don't know why another person seemed to suggest that you could disable it yourself in the router.   I have done many investigations into Wi-Fi where customers think their problems are caused by Wi-Fi Optimisation, virtually all of them have another cause.   Slow speed, intermittent dropouts, breaks in the signal or no signal on some or all devices or no internet access might be caused by Wi-Fi interference from other local networks, which can also lead to a permanent reduction in speed. No ISP can be responsible for your local environment; this is mainly a byproduct of the popularity of Wi-Fi. Generally speaking, the 2.4GHz band suffers a lot more from interference than the much faster 5GHz band, but the 2.4GHz band can sometimes have a better range; however, this all depends on your local area. In other words, I offer a free, impartial analysis of your Wi-Fi network and will try to help you optimise your Wi-Fi connection. The next stage involves sending out a guide to help you get me some important diagnostic results so that I can analyse them for you and recommend changes to your router configuration to solve them. @Monkeyboy1975    Well, if it is working without changing anything, then the problem was possibly with the TalkTalk DNS servers. That is nothing more than a guess, though, because....   The problem for me is that first, not having any Minis myself, it looked like, from what everyone was saying, it was a WiFi connection issue. Only when I got feedback from a couple of you did I find (not having a clue how a Mini works from a technical point of view), which is likely to be commercially sensitive as well, that they were connecting to the WiFi OK, but dropping out a few minutes later. I had to take a guess that they were disconnecting from the eeros Wi-Fi due to not being able to establish a connection to some Google server. ... View more

Hi @Pbsbuk    Does the Google app allow you to configure the IP addressing manually, rather than via DHCP? If so, static IP addressing can be configured on it, which will allow you to set the Google DNS server addresses, just for this one device. The IP address chosen has to be carefully considered, though,  as it must be outside of the eero's DHCP IP address range.   In the eero app, go to:-   Settings > Network Settings > DHCP & NAT   Then PM me a screenshot of the page, it must include the Lease range at the bottom.   Then I can advise on a safe IP address for you to use for the Mini. ... Hi @Doodles20    @Philile-TT has asked me to help you. All ports are open in the outbound direction, so port forwarding is of no use. You cannot change the IPv4 firewall, so that won't be the case. If this worked before, the most likely cause of the problem is that your eero, via the Full Fibre network, has been allocated a new WAN IP address. However, normally, that won't have any effect on the outbound direction. Please can you feed this back to their support team for further advice on how this is supposed to work, in case I have overlooked anything.   Just in case, there are currently some issues with the TalkTalk DNS servers, which might cause this. If it is the cause of your problem, you can get around this by using a custom DNS server in the eero of 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. However, to do this, you need to disable advanced security and ad blocking. However, if you do that and you use HomeSafe or KidsSafe, then changing the DNS will mean these won't work as they require the TalkTalk DNS to do so.     ... View more

Hi @Pbsbuk @Mandisa-TT    Thanks for the information. From the small extract of the eero's log, your Google-Nest-Mini connected OK to the eero today at 15:14 & disconnected at 15:17. It then connected again at 15:19 & disconnected at 15:27. In both cases, that was on the 5GHz band, which was using channel 36.   The issue would seem to be that, for some reason, your Google Mini connects OK to the eero but keeps disconnecting from it. If this were an isolated incident, I would suspect poor Wi-Fi coverage. However, whilst that might address one situation, it is very unlikely to be the case with the other two threads that I am dealing with.    When I hear back from the other two customers involved, if they show the same behaviour, you need to go back to Google support. Perhaps the question needs to be rephrased to Google along the lines of "why does it keep disconnecting?".   You can try speaking to Google support now if you want, or wait to see if the other two are the same. ... What software update version is your Mini running (I appreciate that you may not be able to get this, if you cannot connect to the eero)? What version of eeroOS are you running? In the eero app, go to Settings > Software Updates. When was this eeroOS version installed? In the app, you may be able to get this information via Settings > Software Updates > Software Updates History and tap on the current version at the top. Alternatively, you may be able to see this via the Activity tab, tap the clock icon top right and scroll down through the Events. With the Mini turned on & trying to connect, please can you go to Activity tab, tap the clock icon top right and scroll down through the Events to find where it connects or fails to connect.
