Fix a problem with your Wi-Fi Extender Kit

This article relates to our previous product, the Wi-Fi Extender Kit. If you've recently received our current solution, the Wi-Fi Booster, check out our related articles: Setting up and positioning your Wi-Fi Booster and Troubleshooting for your Wi-Fi Booster.

Having trouble with your Wi-Fi Extender Kit? Choose your issue from the options below and follow the steps for your router. The way you've set them up can also affect their performance, so make sure you check the following:

  • Unplug any Powerline Adapters, Wi-Fi Repeaters, Extenders or whole-home mesh Wi-Fi solutions you're currently using.
  • Plug your Wi-Fi Extender and Network Connector directly into your wall sockets. Extensions, surge protectors and three-way plug adapters can stop them from working properly.
  • Don’t plug your Wi-Fi Extender in near household appliances that use a lot of power, like your washing machine or fridge.
  • Avoid charging devices like your mobile phone next to your Wi-Fi Extender.
  • Keep your Network Connector and Wi-Fi Extender switched on at all times to get the latest updates.

Follow the below steps to resolve the issue with your wireless network name:

Wi-Fi Hub or TalkTalk Super Router

  1. Press and hold the WPS button on your Wi-Fi Extender for 5 seconds until the Mains Power light turns orange.
  2. Then press the WPS button on your router for 5 seconds until the Wireless light on your Wi-Fi Extender turns solid green.
  3. If this doesn’t work, follow the Non-TalkTalk router steps below.

  2. Enter your username - the default is admin.
  3. Enter your password - you can find this on the back of your Wi-Fi Extender.
  4. Select Login.
  5. Select Set up in the toolbar.
  6. In the Wi-Fi Network Settings 2.4G section, type in the same Wi-Fi Network Name (SSID) and password as your router.
  7. Repeat this in the Wi-Fi Network Settings 5G section.
  8. Click Save Settings.

You'll need to follow the below steps to resolve your Extender Kit connectivity issues. It's not possible to join multiple extender kits together, so if you've got more than one, then start by removing the extra kits, leaving a single WiFi Extender and Network Connector.
