Bill Increase

I've just had notification that my bill would be increasing by £3 per month.  When I renegotiated my contract I was assured that the broadband price would remain at £25 per month until end of contract (August 2027).  I've attached a screenshot.

Is the price increase an error?

@Bead1 As we see on the system in December, your contract was not renewed to a Fixed Price plus plan hence you are affected by the price rise this year. I am really sorry that this has happened.

Thanks for that, @Gliwmaeden2 . @Bead1 Looking into your account, I can see that the last you took a broadband package from us was back in August which was a variable package and that is why you are affected by the price change.

@Bead1, your initial post shows an end date in August 2027.

If you thought you had renewed in December 2025, it cannot have gone through as it would not have an August end date under any of the package durations available.

Did you receive any further contract information in December by email to confirm it?

And the increase would have been £4.00 instead of £3.00. You are honestly better off as you are.

The agent cannot have understood the Ts&Cs .... you can find a link to them at the bottom of every Talktalk page.

Hi Nambuso,  I actually renegotiated on 22 December 2025 (I made a note in my diary).  The gentleman I spoke to advised me that the broadband cost would not change for 2 years - I asked that specific question of him.  He also waived a £30 admin fee.

Upon looking into your account, I can confirm that you renewed your contract on 20/08/2025 which is a variable package and not a fixed price plus package. You currently pay £25.00 for your broadband. The only additional boost on your account is the Unlimited UK Calls boost, which costs £16.00, but you have a half‑price discount of £8, so you pay £8 for it.

You are included in the recent price change, which is why we sent you communications on 24/03/2026. As a result, your bill will increase by an additional £3. This applies because you recontracted after 12 August 2024 and before 16 November 2025.

It's built in to the Ts&Cs, @Bead1.

Just like with mobile phone contracts too these days.

Ofcom has allowed companies to build the increase in to the so-called fixed term contracts: the minimum duration is fixed, not the price.
