Availability of IPv6 on TalkTalk

Hi,

I have seen some older posts enquiring about the availability of IPv6 on TalkTalk but I couldn't find a clear answer so wanted to ask for an update.

Also my TT router/modem is a Sagemcom-FAST5364 3.00, Software Version SG4K100136 and does not appear to have any IPv6 menu items however "IP Version" within "Device Info" is listed as IPv4/IPv6. Is/will a firmware upgrade required to enable IPv6 capabilities?

Regards,

RD

You can cancel your contract if it’s within 14 days of you agreeing it. If your go live date is or was after that you can’t. I have the Gigafast broadband and I’m getting all of it. They should be able to help you fix it. If they don’t then start a complaint. If they still don’t fix it speak to the ombudsman. He will tell them to fix it within a certain time frame. If they still don’t then the ombudsman should be able to get you an offer of compensation or maybe tell them to release you from your contract as they’re not supplying you what they agreed to.

There are plenty of cheaper more reliable ISP’s out there some with better speeds for the money you’re already paying and with better customer services (which wouldn’t be hard). As soon as my contract ends I’m off!! These jokers told me I’d get exactly the same as I did with BT… it isn’t… it’s ipv4 and not 6!!

Good luck 🤞🏼

Hi,

Sorry for that, Michelle.

But updating that there is no update after 2 years is not really an UPDATE.
We all can see I presume from this thread that there is no IPv6 available.
I do start to feel that I've made a bad choice opting for TalkTalk Full Fiber 500Mbps, only by reading this thread.

I don't want to think what will happen when I'll have  broadband issues, as it started already after 2 days, my speed drops to 6 Mbps [+7 hours in a row] - even doing test on TalkTalk account is same result putting my broadband connection in top 10 lowest broadband connections in UK by their own Speed Test on their own network.

Kidn regards,

C.A

Hello,

I am a new customer with TalkTalk [ 500Mbps - Full Fiber - Eero 6 Pro].

Reading this thread ... I have question..

Is Michelle a bot? - as it replies same sentence since 2022

Morning,

I'm sorry for the delay. I've been advised that there is no update on the IPv6 rollout as yet but we are continuing to evaluate.

Thanks

Michelle

2022 this topic was raised and you still can’t, won’t or haven’t got the technical knowledge to provide either an update or bring yourselves up to speed with ipv6. I was mos sold this package that I’m on. I was told it was exactly the same as BT but it’s not is it. BT use IPv6 addresses and for good reason… it’s the best!!

I’ll be going to Ofcom because you haven’t even responded to my complaint made months ago.

Why are we still waiting for an update that you promised a week ago?!?! Does it really take a week to get an update. You see this is exactly why your customer services are beyond crap!

Customer services have been saying they’re asking  for updates for way too long now. Goes in one ear and out the other!!

It’s a shame that because BT currently have an offer of £43.99 for 900

Good for you,

I've much longer contract atm so that's max a future alternative to me.

BT broadband offerings are decent, but those prices man. 😐

I second that tech support is far -even- from incompetent. 😕

Honestly, just forget it because it’s never going to happen. As soon as my contract ends in January I’m going back to BT. Customer service here is absolutely sh*te to say the least. They just haven’t got a clue!!

Evening,

A good half year is gone and looks like i'm not the only one who's keen to enjoy v6 advantages .

For context. Hetzner (hosting provider) charges extra for every v4 address. Hetzner is not the only one who does this and this is becoming a trend. I'm literally losing money every month simply because I'm TalkTalk customer. I bet there is no compensation whatsoever 😄

I've seen a few topics where replies suggest there are customers whom have access to v6 addresses.

I'm on the 65 package with vdsl modem that's v6 capable. I have never got v6 address.

When TalkTalk will take some actions to roll out v6 to every customer?

Can someone give me more update and insight on this other than the usual "no update this time" response please?

Complete and utter crap. Eero routers already have the capability. It’s TalkTalk doesn’t use ipv6.

Go to another provider, they won’t give you an IPv6 address. Customer service is terrible. BT give you an iPV6 address and it’s cheaper than TalkTalk at the moment £49 for full fibre 900. TalkTalk is £56 for the same thing and BT have excellent customer service! Worst thing I ever done was leaving BT for TalkTalk.

Take my advice !!

Talk Talk have been promising this for a long long time now. I’ve been asking for an iPV6 address for just as long to the point that ive just gave up now. iPV4 is outdated. All or most other providers are using 6. BT uses 6, I was told when I left BT that you would give me exactly the same as BT but this was not the case!!!

Anyone reading this and thinking of switching to TalkTalk… take my advice… DONT DO IT!!! Their customer service is woeful at best! Their customer service staff don’t have the knowledge, they sit behind a computer and their systems suggest how to resolve the problem. I spent hours and hours for weeks on end trying to sort this and the CS team didn’t even know what iPV6 or 4 was!! I have the eero pro 6 router which is iPV6, TalkTalk supplied me with this router and yet they’re not letting you use it to its full capability. IPV6 is a faster, better, more secure address.

DONT WASTE YOUR TIME

Go to BT or any other provider instead
