Cannot connect to work VPN

Hello, 

 

My work IT team are trying to remotely connect me to our company server via VPN but get the following warning "A connection to the remote computer could not be established, so the port used for this connection was closed." This has been attempted on multiple devices. 

 

They are using the PPTP protocol on a Windows VPN.

 

IT have advised me they have seen a lot of posts on the TalkTalk forums about the same problem, mostly from people with the Sagecom router. 

 

I have spoken to the Live Chat and they advised to post here. Could you please provide assistance.

Thank you. I will need to make a change to your router firmware, will it be ok if I do this now?

 

We advise to leave the router switched on without being rebooted whilst we update the FW. This should take no longer than 15 minutes to update.
