Hi

Goy an Eve cam for Xmas, and as soon as I leave the house I cant connect to it. Even support are suggest that Bonjour, mDNS or Multicast may be blocked. And to make sure Multicast, mDNS and IGMP Snooping is enabled if available.

Any ideas? Not sure where to start.

Thanks

I have no way of checking this myself, so I will get TalkTalk to confirm.

However, I cannot see how this will allow you to remotely access the camera when away from your home.

Hi Keith

Finally heard back from Eve Helpdesk and no port forwarding is needed. All they can suggest is

please make sure/check with the Sagecom support that the protocol Bonjour often referred to as mDNS or Multicast is not blocked at all.
Please make sure Multicast, mDNS and IGMP Snooping is enabled if available.

Any ideas?

Thanks

From a PC connected locally to your router, what happens if you test these two ports via this port checking website:-

https://portchecker.co/

Then there are two ways to go into Port Forwarding:-

Method 1

Go to:-

Dashboard > Manage my devices > Advanced Settings

Click on the device that you wish to forward to.

Then go to:-

Port Forwarding > Add Rule

This will populate the Internal Host box of the Add Rule screen with that device's IP address.

Method 2

Dashboard > Manage my devices > Manage Advanced Settings > Access Control > Port Forwarding. Then click Add Rule > Add Rules Manually

Irrespective of the method used to arrive at the Add Rule Manually screen, the following fields need to be completed like this:-

Custom service name: EveCam3274

Protocol: TCP

External Host *

External Port: 3274

Internal Port: 3274

Custom service name: EveCam26000

Protocol: TCP

External Host *

External Port: 26000

Internal Port: 26000

Hi Keith

apparently the Eve cam uses

  • TCP: 3724, 26000.

Does this make sense to you.

My router is a Sagecom make.

Thanks

I can help you configure the port forwarding, but you first need to find out which TCP or UDP ports need to be forwarded. Only the manufacturer of this camera can tell you this, not me. Which make/model of TalkTalk router are you using, as each one is different?

I haven't done this. I don't know how. It doesn't mention this in the manual. it is an Eve camera to run through APPLE HomeKit so does support remote access. can you help please?

If you want to connect to any device locally connected to your router when not at home, you will need, as a minimum, to configure the required port forwarding in your router. Have you done this? If not, you should be able to find out which TCP or UDP ports that require forwarding from thedevice's manufacturer. Not all cameras support remote access either.
