Not getting the guaranteed speeds!

Hi,

I recently had a fault on my line and an open reach engineer came out( he did not need to come into my home) I don't know if he fixed the issue as I never got a call from him saying the issue has been resolved ( even though he told me he would call me and let me know what was happening) I am however led to believe that the issue has been resolved (whatever the issue was) and now my download speed has tanked. I am not getting the guaranteed download speed. Upload speed seems fine. Before the fault all was well, the download speed I have now is not even half of my guaranteed speed.

My broadband package is Fibre 35 and my download speed is around 10mpbs

Hi Whisper,

Lovely to hear from you too 🙂 I'm glad to hear that your throughput speeds have increased following this. Sometimes clearing the current session (with a 30 minute power down) can help. Please let us know if you need anything else.

Thanks

Michelle

Good morning Michelle good to see you, getting on great once again, powered down for a full 30 minutes this morning and my speeds have returned to normal. Thanks for your response. Have a great week!

Regards, whisper 👍🏻

Morning Whisper,

How are you getting on? Did you have a chance to try the 30 minute router power down?

Thanks

Michelle 🙂

Yeah, a quick off-on often did the trick back in the old ADSL days, but a VDSL session at the DSLAM is more persistent, hence the 30 minute suggestion.

The idea is to start a new session at the cabinet, @Whisper. One minute is no use for this at all.

I turned it off for about a minute, earlier then switched it back on, still the same slow speeds, so you have to give it a half hour now these days? I will try that tomorrow when I leave the house for the afternoon. Thank you for your advice.

Try switching off the router for a full 30 minutes to allow the session to reset before turning it back on again, see if that helps.
