Hello, can someone help please. A few weeks ago the light on my router started flashing red intermittently, sadly it is now flashing frequently and i loose my internet connection. At the moment as I'm typing this message I keep losing the internet. I've checked the wiring etc, and all seems ok. Unfortunately, with my age a lack of mobility, my internet is vital, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
Kwate

Thanks for letting me know.
Since you did mention that your new router might be faulty, I can run checks for you to determine what is the cause of that, however I will need you to plug it in so we can diagnose it. if that's okay.

Thank you for you concern, but my son doesn't need extra care .. all he needs is a constant internet connection. He has dedicated his life for the past 6 years to creating a computer game and lives in his bedroom working on the game.
After replacing the faulty router with the old one I found, all seems to be fine, for the moment, with the internet connection.
If you wish you could replace the faulty router with a new one and I can then send the faulty one back to you. I'll leave that decision to your good selves ... but thank you very much for your concerns.
Kindest regards
Kwate

In order for us to determine the cause of the issue we need the customer to plug the faulty router however since @kwate has mentioned that for now they have internet, we will continue with checks. Thanks

@nambuso-TT, are you trying to check the old router (which seems to work fine) or do you want @kwate to revert to the newer one to test the status of the light etc?
Not clear from your post.

Thank you very much for confirming and before we continue please confirm the status of the light in front of the router.

Hi
Yes the old router was originally from TalkTalk some years ago now.

@kwate, thank you for this. Have you received the old router from us (TalkTalk)?

Hi
As I mentioned before I replaced the faulty router with an old router I've found in the back of a cupboard, which was from our old house (we moved two and a half years ago).
For the moment we seem to have internet....
So, I suppose we can wait to see if our connection continues to function before taking any further actions.

Is your son depedant on the internet?
on 15-08-2025 11:09 AM
Thankfully no, but never the less I do all my shopping, including my weekly food shopping, online as well as ordering my medication etc.
My son, who has mental issues, works from home and is reliant on a constant internet connection,
Thank you

Do you have any active monitoring for life threatening health reasons which is solely dependant upon your TalkTalk Broadband or Telephone line?
For example a care alarm, lifeline, health pendant or fall detector.

Good morning Phili, it drops and reconnects every minute.
I've found an old router in the back of a cupboard which I'm trying to test at the moment and at least have some internet connection for the moment.
Thank you
