Hi, I use the OpenDNS Family Shield dns servers, configured in my TalkTalk Wi-Fi Hub, so as to filter out adult content as I have children in the house. This has worked well for the last 10 years or so.
It has come to my attention today that the filtering has stopped working. Upon investigation, I've discovered that the DNS settings in my router are still set to use OpenDNS, but the router is not using these settings.
If I log into my router, go to See Internet Settings > Manage Advanced Settings > Internet Connectivity > Show subsections > DNS IPv4, you can see in the screenshot that I have the OpenDNS servers here:
DNS IPv4
But if I go to TalkTalk Wi-Fi Hub and wait for it to load the Device Info, you can see some different servers are set:
Device Info
and then if I go to Show Sections > DNS, you can see those 79.x servers:
DNS
If I set these ones to the OpenDNS IPs, it saves the config, and if I reboot the router and log in again, I see the OpenDNS servers in both of the DNS entry fields in the screenshots, but the Device Info still shows the 79.x addresses.
A number of questions:
- how come these different DNS servers are present when I haven't changed them to these 79.x values, and I'm the only one with the changed router password?
- why am I not able to change them? The router isn't honouring either of the configurations that I set
- how do I fix this?
Thanks in advance.

If I remember correctly, the way I resolved this was to change the settings one by one, then save and reboot a number of times. I think I remember clearing them out, save and reboot, set them to different values, save and reboot, and keep going until they reflected the correct values after a reboot.

Had the same issues! your post helped me resolve this.
i resolve the issue by
Show Sections > DNS,< your last screenshot> http://<router IP>/2.0/gui/#/mybox/dns/server
it says
"keep the 2 following fields empty to disable the static DNS and use default settings." - so I deleted these
Restarted router
working again!
although under DNS it now gives 192.168.1.1 in the primary box

Morning,
Could you try factory resetting the router and then try setting it back up again please.
