Ask us about your TalkTalk email account and Webmail.

I have the same problem. Last week 14th Oct I had to reset my lineone password and now I have had to reset it again 23rd Oct. My problem also began after the upgrade to my lineone email account and an email asking me to verify my account. I also keep getting a scam email from Halifax asking me to update my account details, I don't have a Halifax account, and they seem to be coming from Tiscali users.

Hi Simon
A very good question. First 'OX App Suite' is not a security concern. I'll explain.
The TalkTalk Mail vendor is Open Xchange known as OX and the TalkTalk Mail product is App Suite, the suite of apps including Mail, Calendar, Address Book, Tasks and Portal. So, the whole TalkTalk Mail package is called OX App Suite.
The labelling of my connected Windows notebook device is usually prefixed with TalkTalk Mail followed by the browser and operating system but I find that my mobile connected Android devices are prefixed with OX App Suite followed by the browser and operating system.
In summary, the prefixing is nothing to worry about. The important bit is that you recognise that all connected devices are yours.

Hi Gondola,
Just a quick question. Since my problems back in October I make regular checks to see what devices are signed into my web mail. Recently I've noticed something called OX App Suite, which seems to appear when I sign in from my iphone, ipad and laptop. I have signed it out and it makes no difference to webmail operation and it returns on the next sign in, is it something to worry about?
Thanks, Simon

TalkTalk never ever ask you to verify your account.
The TalkTalk Mail upgrade happens automatically without user intervention.
Even if an email appears to be from TalkTalk and uses a talktalk.net or tiscali.co.uk email address it's a scam. TalkTalk never ever send emails from talktalk.net or tiscali.co.uk addresses and never ever ask for the email password. Remember if a scammer has discovered your email address is active then they'll target you to get you to reveal the password. So be on guard from here on.
If you had very old Filter Rules or Blocked sender rule then they're probably way out of date anyway so best to delete all including any Auto forward. Hackers will often amend existing rules or add new rules to spy on your emails.

Hi Gondola, I’m not sure if I’ve been updated yet, webmail looks pretty similar to me. I rarely use webmail, generally I use iPhone or iPad app and also Thunderbird PC client. I do remember clicking on a link which appeared to be from talktalk asking me to verify my email for the upgrade, so I guess that is where the trouble started. I’ve signed out of devices as you described, although as I was using webmail via my iPhone it wouldn’t sign me out of that. I’ve also set up a new password and I checked forwarding but nothing set up on there. Finally I deleted all the rules but again the only rules I could see were set up by me going back quite a while. Thanks for all your help, I’ll continue to monitor closely and get back to you if I have any further problems. Regards, Simon.

Has your mailbox been migrated to the new look TalkTalk Mail platform?
Did you respond in any way, click on any link, submit your email password to verify your account? If so you've given your password to a scammer.
TalkTalk will never ever ask you to refresh, authenticate, or verify your account details by sending you off to some amateur website.
As well as scanning all your devices for viruses, trojans or other malware you need to upgrade your password and check via the security option that there are no unauthorised devices signed in to your mailbox.
Select here: Sign in to TalkTalk Mail
Enter your full TalkTalk Mail email address, select Continue and enter the password, select Sign in.
Via the cog icon top right and the All settings menu item, select Security in the left pane and Check your devices. If there are unknown devices then Sign out from all devices and confirm. That's after upgrading the password and then making sure all unidentified devices are locked out.
Also check via Mail and scroll down to Rules to ensure There are no rules defined. Hackers will set up Auto forwards or other rules to spy on your mail messages. If there are any Rules then play safe and Delete them all.
Scammers obviously know your email address so from here on be careful. Report phishing attempts to TalkTalk.
