I uninstalled and reinstalled Thunderbird in Windows 10
I added my account manually as IMAP (formerly POP3)
Settings
Your full name My Name
Email address my email@tiscali.co.uk
Password omitted
Incoming
Protocol IMAP
Hostname mail.talktalk.net
Port 993
Connection security SSL/TLS
Authentication method Normal password
User name my email@tiscali.co.uk
Outgoing
Host name smtp.talktalk.net
Port 587
Connection security STARTTLS
Authentication method Normal password
User name my email@tiscali.co.uk
I clicked Re-test
Responded with ‘Password ok’
I clicked Done
Re-test and Done buttons faded
Account not added
No error message
What have I done wrong?

Please log in to My Account if you need to view or pay your bill, manage boosts and track your usage. From My Account you can also check your connection and test your line for any issues in the Service Centre.

I tried again, several times
Finally Thunderbird asked for my password
When I entered the password it finally created my account
