I have a bit of a similar problem. The essential problem is that I can't send an email using Thunderbird but using the same email/password it sends ok using webmail, it also sends ok from an Amazon fire tablet, I am using Win11 and 3 other emails via the same Thunderbird work fine. The settings are as specified. This isn't a new problem. It has been going on for ages like months. So if 3 other emails work ok what could be the problem. What actually happens is that receiving is ok but when one tried to send it pops up and ask for a new password.. Roger

OK, I see you don't know the correct settings nor the correct User name.
smtp.lineone.net must be changed to smtp.talktalk.net whilst the User name must be your full lineone email address (In the image below the Username is a talktalk.net email address but in your case it will be a lineone.net email address but everything else will be as shown.
So let's start from the beginning. Manual configuration is required.
Setup manual settings for an IMAP email account (recommended) for any TalkTalk Mail Username including talktalk.net, tiscali.co.uk or lineone.net. If you wish to use POP3 then the only difference is the incoming port: 995.

Hi Gondola
Didn't realise you meant in Thunderbird. So anyway as you said I have deleted the account in Thunderbird, re-started the system. Created a new account in Thunderbird so that it went off and found the settings to use and it comes back with 'Login to server smtp.lineone.net with username roger_munt failed'

To remove an email account from Thunderbird:
Close Thunderbird and power off the device. Power on and set up the email account afresh.

Since changing the password and trying to send instead of asking for a new password it instead just hangs.....

I have also tried resetting the password which went through ok except I still vane send from Thunderbird.......

In passing: I have tried using the email validation site and everything comes back green including the SMTP check....

How do I go about deleting an email address?

Hi Roger
I've moved your post to a new topic because the issue you describe is not identical to that for the topic you hijacked.
My diagnosis is that your sending does not work because you don't have the outgoing SMTP server set up for the TalkTalk email account you're sending from. Each email account must use its own dedicated outgoing SMTP server because that requires authentication by the account email address as User name and the email password. So, you may have a TalkTalk SMTP server set up but its User name and password will be for a different TalkTalk account.
The easiest fix is to delete the email account and set it up afresh to make sure the User name and password for both incoming and outgoing servers match the email account in question.
