I did a password change on my windows laptop yesterday, and since then emails are not downloading to my Gmail app on my phone. I've updated the password. I can send emails but not receive even though the settings are correct. Any ideas?

All good now by deleting the account and readding, thanks for your advice much appreciated 👍

Too good. I've moved the images to your hidden folder. I've explained why in an email notification.

The settings are perfect so in theory the Gmail app should work. If you download and set up the BlueMail app exactly the same then I'm confident it'll work first time.

I'd delete the TalkTalk account from the Gmail app and set it up afresh when you've got proof from the BlueMail app that an email app will connect to your mailbox to download, view, compose and send mail messages.

Let us know the outcome.

Screenshot the incoming and outgoing server settings for me. Image edit to obscure the first part of your email address and upload here using the picture icon above this reply area. I'll take a look to see if anything else is in need of change.

I'm aware that the current version of the Gmail app isn't performing all functions as expected so maybe this is another Gmail software glitch.  After I've confirmed the settings then to troubleshoot I'd suggest going to PlayStore and downloading either the BlueMail email app or Typeapp email app and set either one of those up as an IMAP email account.

I tried putting in the wrong password and sure enough the app tells me it is wrong, it only accepts when I put the right one in

On the Gmail email app have you updated the password for both server settings, Incoming and Outgoing settings?

  • Go to Settings and select the email account
  • Scroll down and select Incoming settings
  • Select the X to the right of the Password to delete the password
  • You'll see a message Add Authentication - select and enter the new password
Select the eye icon to view the password to make sure it's correct
  • Select Done and the app will verify the password
