Ask us about your TalkTalk email account and Webmail.

Having just spend over 2 hours on 'chat' I still cannot get answer. Is it the case that due to a 'recent update' TalkTalk no longer offers a free email account to new broadband customers? I joined a few months ago and seem unable to create an email account. The closest I've got is to create a subscribed account - which is obviously not free. Thank you.

No, we do not provide emails to new full fibre customers to be specific hence you were unable to set up an email on MyAccount. Thanks.

Apologies - "New FTTP customers will be unable to create, delete or link email account to their FTTP account at present" - what does this actually mean in terms of being provided with a free talktalk account (it appears to me NO)? Perhaps I'm being too simplistic. In simple terms (yes or no) do TalkTalk provide new customers with a free talktalk email account, like they used to?

@quarkrad2 you recently joined TalkTalk in September, and you are a full fibre customer. Please note "New FTTP customers will be unable to create, delete or link email account to their FTTP account at present".
Monday
@quarkrad2 I will need to check when you joined TalkTalk and if you will be able to create an email.

One can't use Mailbox Manager, unless one has at least 1 TalkTalk email address.
I always thought a customer's 1st email address was allocated by TalkTalk staff when a customer first becomes a customer.

I think you'll need to wait for support from managers when they get back to us, @quarkrad2.
I wouldn't expect much progress before the New Year sadly.

Unfortunately the Mailbox Manager requires you to use your email accounts name and password. Back to square 1 - I haven't got a name/password/account.

I cannot find a way of setting up a mail account through My Account. I did go though Chat and spoke to various people - the last person who said they would help me create and account emailed me the instructions. These instructions were just the imap settings to configure access to the server.

You could try accessing the mail manager here as I've seen one customer, albeit an existing one, access it using their my account password, but I couldn't before raising this exact topic for a response, but may be worth a try.

@quarkrad2, one preliminary reply we had last week from staff said:
"But I do think that you will need to create your new email address 1st through Myaccount and then log into your webmail portal using the email address. From there you will be able to access MailBox Manager."
See if there's a way to create an email address in My Account, or phone Talktalk (open Saturday 9am - 6pm) on 03451 720088 or use Chat for help creating your email address.
Then you should be able to manage your address through the separate Mailbox Manager.

Thank you for your help and support on this one. 😃

It used to be the case that we chose an address, and a password to set up our email address when joining Talktalk - not the same usually as the email address you'd use for billing, @quarkrad2.
Now that Mailbox Manager has been set up separately from My Account, we do need to find out for you how to get this going for new customers.
A community star has already raised this question with staff - they won't respond before Monday, but we may not get a clear answer for a couple of weeks or so if they need to ask managers etc.
Sorry for the delay, but a good question. Hopefully it will be helpful for other customers joining too. Please keep an eye on the thread for further responses.
Any email notifications about posts will be from a no reply address, so always post back on here.

I clicked on that link (thank you) and got this page:
mail manager
This is my issue - I do not have a TalkTalk email address. If I put in my gmail address which is the one that TalkTalk communicates with me it obviously does not work. How do I get this TalkTalk email address? (Assuming I can have a free one).
Friday
They do offer this, although frankly why you would want to have one is beyond me. Have you logged in to Mailbox Manager?
