Since Saturday I can no longer sent emails via Outlook. I have checked the SMTP settings and they appear to be correct.
However, whenever I try to send an email it fails because there are too many recipients (even if there is only one person I am sending to) and if I try to change the SMTP settings I keep getting "Something went wrong and Outlook couldn't repair your account. Please try again. If the problem continues, contact your email administrator.". Is anyone else having the same problem.
I can receive emails no problem whatsoever.

You'd only have to wait 24 hours if you saw a TT502 bounceback error. That would mean you'd exceeded the normal sending of a whole day of mail messages. The rate limits are temporarily applied to make it tiresome for spammers to make much headway with sending spam onto the TalkTalk network. But the TT501 bounceback error will definitely be relaxed in the hour.
If you do need more flexibility to send mail messages to larger groups or more frequent messages to the group or groups then consider a commercial mail sending service designed for bulk mail and that does not have the much lower limits of a residential mail service. But if it's just a case of getting tripped up this one time then don't worry.

Thanks for that. I'll wait and try to send emails tomorrow. That should give it time to calm down. 👍

OK, that's not so worrying. It's a temporary spam protection measure that all residential mail services apply; the counter will be reset in the next hour. It means you've sent to more recipients than expected in the hour preceding the fail. Maybe you had to send to your group several times? The full sending allowance gets gradually restored in the hour.

Hi. The TT code is TT501.
I only use this computer to send emails using my TalkTalk broadband connection.
The only device showing in "All Devices" was this one. There were no unrecognised devices.
The only thing I was trying to do was to send a group email to about 20 email addresses. I've done this before, many times, but never had a problem before. Luckily I am able to send emails via my backup email address.

What's the TT error code associated with the "too many recipients" bounce back message?
Are you sending from your home TalkTalk broadband connection? Using a VPN? Got multiple mailbox connections?
Feels like your sending has been rate limited as a security precaution.
You can check the number of devices signed in to the mailbox via the Security option accessed from the All settings menu item of the main cog icon settings menu.
Sign out all unrecognised devices and upgrade the password but only after scanning for password capturing virus, trojan or other malware
Sign out all but the device you're using. However, rate limited mailboxes may not have full sending ability for 24 hours. So, you may have to wait a bit.

I have tried to send an email from TalkTalk webmail as well and can't because it says there are too many recipients (even if there is only one). I can still receive messages though. Would really appreciate a fix for this.
