My email address obscured for customer security has become inaccessible via my iPhone.
Having looked on the help pages I require TalkTalk support to restore IMAP access.
Can this be done please
Many thanks

Hi Peter, there's an incident that affects some mail plus accounts and it affects yours. I can't add a hotmail account to mail plus though anyway.

Hi, I can now get access to my mailbox via my IPhone, so thanks for that.
I still can’t access Mailplus account. Has the hotmail account I provided in my Private notes been added?

Hi Peter, I've checked your mailbox and it has full function. Is there another mailbox that you need help with?

Ok, just edit the text in the Private notes box. Add in the talktalk address and make it clear to Ady that the talktalk address is the one that needs device access restoring and the additional address is the one that needs adding to the new MailPlus MyAccount. If you have the confirmation email (from the talktalk account webmail) about the MailPlus subscription then also add the MyAccount account number. Check that the text in the Private notes box is all complete and then select the Save Changes button.

Hi, I have added a new email account to My profile but just seems to have replaced my talktalk email
on 28-02-2023 09:25 AM
Hi Petlamb
The MailPlus MyAccount should be set up automatically and as you say, the sign in is with the verified email address and its password that was used to subscribe. However, there is an issue currently that MyAccount doesn't like changes made from a non-TalkTalk network IP address that will be the case for all MailPlus subscribers. So we're waiting on a fix to recognise that MailPlus subscribers will be signing in from a non-TalkTalk network IP address.
If you have additional existing email addresses to get added to the MailPlus MyAccount in addition to the email address you registered with then just say, add those with a note to your Community profile, Personal Information, Private notes and Ady will have them added to the MyAccount (after a bit of verification on user registration).

Hello, I have set up the MailPlus but when I tried to log on had the attached message. Used the same login details as email account.
Is this because full access to the account has not be restored? Have I made things worse by trying to set MailPlus up before that was done?
Apologies if I am making things worse

If that's the iPhone SE 3rd generation then that's good for secure mail.
Just make sure your Community profile Private notes has email address. I've requested that full access is restored for the email address mailbox in your Community profile Private notes.
TalkTalk Support will respond here and access returned within a couple of days after that. Until then use TalkTalk Mail webmail via an up to date Internet browser to keep in touch with email contacts.

Hi, I am happy to sign up for Mail plus.
The device I am using to connect is an iPhone SE 3. I have been through the guide sent to me and changed the settings accordingly.
Let me know if you need more information.

No it's not a problem if your mailbox still exists.
Just a heads up that as you're not a TalkTalk Consumer home broadband customer or TalkTalk MailPlus subscription customer you're not actually entitled to full access but just webmail. It's the MailPlus subscription that gives full access.
But overlooking that, if the mailbox is still active via webmail, we just need to help you identify the device / software that's been connecting to the mailbox using insecure settings, help you to update those or update the email software if needed, and then restore full access. You can then decide if MailPlus is for you.

Hi, thanks for the answer. Is it a problem to get this changed because I only have this email account but am no longer a talktalk customer.
The account was originally set up when I had broadband.

If you saw the message from TalkTalk advising "Our records show that you are still accessing your email using unencrypted email settings, because of this you will no longer be able to receive or send emails via this email app or software" then the email address receiving that notification has been limited to webmail only access as a last resort action by TalkTalk to stop the use of insecure email.
TalkTalk Mail webmail is secure by design using an up to date Internet browser.
Select here: Sign in to TalkTalk Mail
Enter your full TalkTalk Mail email address and password, select Sign in.
You will be able to get email access restored to email apps or software including mail collection services, passwords will then re-authenticate, so long as you're ready to use up to date and secure email settings for all the ways you view emails. We can advise on device and software compatibility and provide customer setup guides. Just let us know each mail collection service, each device, its operating system and email software including version that are in current use.
For a definitive check of settings take screenshots of the incoming and outgoing server settings, image edit to obscure the first part of the email address and upload here using the Camera icon (desktop browser) or Picture icon (mobile browser) above this reply area.
When you confirm the secure settings are ready I can request TalkTalk Support to restore full access. TalkTalk Support will respond here and access will be restored usually within a couple of working days.
Prepare for TalkTalk Support - include in the Community Profile (not in these public posts):
Email account holder name
Scroll down to Private notes to add the email address(es)
and TalkTalk or MailPlus customer account number
Check and Save changes
